This modern curved wooden wall that envelopes a house in Atherton — a town in Silicon Valley, was proposed as a solution to a problem. Designed by American practice Craig Steely Architecture, the structure of the Californian living abode aims to "keep views focused upward rather than outward."
Atherton is characterized by its suburban community that is abundant with rich vegetation and "homes tucked behind fences." The client requested an abode that offered striking views, as well as a silhouette that would encourage outdoor activities. However, upon further inspection, Craig Steely Architecture determined that the property was too narrow. To rectify this, the practice built the chic curved wooden wall that seamlessly guides the gaze upward "toward the tree canopy and ever-changing sky."
