# Privacy-Favoring Curved Houses Estudio Felipe Escudero Designed a Cozy Home in Quito, Ecuador By Kalin Ned | Published 2018-06-04 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/curved-house References: [dezeen](https://www.dezeen.com/2018/06/03/casa-roca-estudio-felipe-escudero-efe-quito-ecuador-curved-board-marked-concrete-walls/) & [felipeescudero](http://felipeescudero.com/) Local architectural studio Estudio Felipe Escudero drew thematic inspiration from a globally recognized and endearing form of human interaction for its curved house. Located in a residential neighborhood in Quito, the house created by the design firm was created to amplify the coziness of the interior, creating a contrast with the outside and providing a privacy-oriented layout. As a result, Estudio Felipe Escudero designed a curved house that is made to mimic "the physical form of a hug." In the inspiration alone, the structure communicates safety and security, traits that are subtly met by the [concrete walls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-serra) that instill a type of harshness and are low maintenance. The exterior walls are formed with [wooden boards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sobremesa-house) and, thus, they are "textured with [their] imprints," giving the curved house a more personal feel. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.9/10 - Popularity: 79% | Activity: 30% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: South America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Privacy-favoring Architecture:** The trend of creating architecture that prioritizes privacy and security presents opportunities for innovating new materials and design concepts that combine safety with aesthetics. - **Cozy and Personalized Homes:** The trend of designing homes with cozy and personalized interiors reflects opportunities for developers to create unique and comfortable spaces that appeal to homeowners. - **Curved Architecture:** The trend of incorporating curved elements in architecture provides opportunities to explore innovative new forms, such as rounded facades and flowing interiors. ### Who This Affects Most - **Real Estate:** The real estate industry can take advantage of privacy-favoring and cozy design trends to create attractive and desirable homes that meet the needs of modern homeowners. - **Architecture and Design:** The architecture and design industry can leverage the trend towards curved housing to explore new shapes and materials, as well as to create unique and visually-stunning constructions. - **Building Materials:** The building materials industry can use the interest in personalized housing to promote new materials that can create textures and surfaces that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Chic Curved Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/curved-house1.md) - [Curved Surface Portuguese Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-house-within-a-few-lines.md) - [Illuminated Curved Home Extensions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cereus-house.md) - [Wooden Screened Cantilevered Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elbow-house.md) - [Sculptural Brick Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/runda-1.md) - [Hillside Concrete Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/concrete-house-1.md) - [Curvaceous Privacy Wall Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kwk-promes-open-house.md) - [Modern Highland Residential Projects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-the-andes.md) - [Sculptural Inverted Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-house-with-an-inverted-roof.md)
