It creates a completely new perspective with which to create art, a perspective that hasn't been touched ever. It's more than simply a concave easel though, it's an entire [artistic contraption](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/adaptive-art-tools), holding the head in place while the artist does their thing. The easel isn't just curved for the sake of being curved. There's a complexity to the reasoning that would make even the most well read mathematicians blush; the main point is that the curvature gets rid of the distortion that most images experience when drawn on a [flat canvas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/layer-canvas). The curved easel was made by twin brothers Ryan & Trevor Oakes and will be on display at the MoMath in New York. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.2/10 - Popularity: 43% | Activity: 14% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Curved Easels:** The innovation behind curved easels allow for a new perspective in creating art. - **Artistic Contraptions:** Curved easels are just one example of artistic contraptions that have the potential for disrupting the creative process. - **Eliminating Distortion:** Curved easels serve to eliminate distortion in images, paving the way for further progress in this direction. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Fine Art Supplies:** The curved easel presents opportunities for disrupting the traditional art supply industry. - **Art Museums:** Art museums can take advantage of curved easels to create new and engaging exhibits for their visitors. - **Mathematical Equipment:** The mathematical complexity behind the curved easel presents potential innovation opportunities for the equipment and tool industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Ergonomically Curved Writing Utensils](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/curva-pen.md) - [Dental Instrument-Inspired Pens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/handwriting-tool.md) - [Life-Like 3D Canvases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lumino.md) - [Unique Writing Instruments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/graphite-paintbrush-writing-instrument.md) - [Curvaceous Analog Designer Rulers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rulerc-concept.md) - [Sculptural Wall Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-wall-desk.md) - [Wavy Dual-Action Mirrors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/archvyli.md) - [Pattern-Drawing Dual-Tip Pens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colored-curve-pens.md) - [Gem-Like Sculptural Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cylindrical-lenses.md)
