# Peculiar Pastries 10 Unique Cupcakes By Cowbag | Published 2008-08-30 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cupcake-gimicks-0-top-cup-cake-designs References: [hellocupcakebook](http://www.hellocupcakebook.com/) They say good things come in little packages which as we all know, is not true. However, in the case of cupcakes I will let it pass. I can’t get enough of these and there is something most satisfying about being able to eat a cake in one mouthful. Maybe that’s just me? Cupcakes are the latest dessert to receive some [serious design innovation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artful-cake). Here are ten of my favorites. **[Billiard Pool Cupcakes](http://ttp://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://blog.nj.com/entertainment_impact_dining/2008/01/large_cupcake.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.nj.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2008/01/06-week/&h=339&w=453&sz=32&hl=en&start=35&usg=__gGHeWYDZNHSG1kFYKPTNSJ9CrA0=&tbnid=VpT-D5rC5JrXwM:&tbnh=95&tbnw=127&prev=/images?q=cupcakes+funny&start=18&gbv=2&ndsp=18&hl=en&sa=N)** Clearly 10/10 for presentation. Pool reminds me of dodgy pubs and men stinking of beer, so I’m having a bad time matching these images up with cupcakes. I can’t see it being a happy marriage. Maybe I am biased, as I am no pool shark--and to be fair, not even a pool tadpole. **Spaghetti and Meatball Cupcakes** A smaller version of the Aunt Bessie’s mash cone. A great idea, and I love the grated cheese in place of icing sugar. [Corn Cakes](http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://images.marthastewart.com/images/content/tv/martha_stewart_show/show_photos/3101_3150/3148_corn_cupcake_l.jpg&imgrefurl=http://cupcakestakethecake.blogspot.com/2008/04/corn-on-cob-and-tv-dinner-cupcakes-on.html&h=281&w=225&sz=31&hl=en&start=55&usg=__gfLK07JuiGrUSILSrw9munul-Vs=&tbnid=0V8z0vk47B32qM:&tbnh=114&tbnw=91&prev=/images?q=cupcakes+funny&start=54&gbv=2&ndsp=18&hl=en&sa=N) The search for the best cupcake design ever ends here. Fact. **[Award Cupcakes](http://images.quickblogcast.com/5/2/4/9/0/117208-109425/CupcakesTakeTheCakeAwardsmall.jpg)** There’s not much room on on the top of a cupcake, so I like the solution applied here to get more crumb for your cake - build upwards! The design is pretty funny too. **Pandas Rock** Just too brilliant for words - I would love to know why they thought of pandas out of all the things in the world you could base a cupcake design on. **Gator Cakes** Not only does the alligator made from cupcakes look really funny, I really like the way the design is spread over a group of cupcakes rather than just centering on one. **People Cupcakes** Little Miss Show Off here has made a cupcake to represent every one of her team members at university. **Chinese New Year Cookies** They almost give the corn cakes a run for their money on the design front. Visually, the red works really well with the fortune cookie, but I’m not sure if looks would replace taste in this case. **[Burger Cupcakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cupcake-bites)** There is something disturbing about savory food recreated in sweet form. But it looks amazing and is a great gimmick. **[Cupcake Bouquet](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/baked-by-melissa-squishmallows-cupcakes)** A bit too girly for my tastes, but I know 90 percent of woman out here would disagree, so it made the grade. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.0/10 - Popularity: 90% | Activity: 82% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Food](https://www.trendhunter.com/food) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Design Innovation:** The cupcakes featured in the article showcase unique and creative designs, presenting an opportunity for disruptive innovation in the baking and confectionery industry. - **Novelty Desserts:** The unconventional flavors and designs of the cupcakes indicate a trend towards novelty desserts, which can be capitalized on by food entrepreneurs looking to offer unique and creative sweet treats. - **Personalized Cupcakes:** The inclusion of team member representation in cupcakes suggests a trend towards personalized desserts, creating an opportunity for customized and themed cupcakes for special occasions and events. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Baking and Confectionery:** The innovative cupcake designs can be leveraged by the baking and confectionery industry to attract customers and differentiate their products in a competitive market. - **Food Entrepreneurship:** The rise of novelty desserts opens up avenues for food entrepreneurs to create and market unique cupcake flavors and designs, appealing to adventurous consumers seeking new culinary experiences. - **Event and Party Planning:** The demand for personalized cupcakes presents an opportunity for event and party planning businesses to offer customized dessert options, catering to specific themes and occasions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Collaboration Pickle-Flavored Cupcakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pickle-cupcake.md) - [Stunning Celebratory Custom Cakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/custom-cake.md) - [Collaboration Cupcake Desserts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chocolate-salted-pretzel-buttercream-cupcake.md) - [Cupcake-Flavored Ice Creams](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cupcake-ice-cream-flavor.md) - [Multilayer Canned Cakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/canned-cake.md) - [Game Day Cupcakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/baked-by-melissa-and-kinder.md) - [Seasonal Salted Pecan Cupcakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gooey-salted-pecan.md) - [Iconic Cupcake Brands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crumbs-cupcakes.md) - [Frosting-Filled Chocolate Cups](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cupcake-cups.md)
