# Palatial Baroque Museums The New Cultural House of Pinhel is a Stunning Revamped Palace By Rebecca Byers | Published 2015-03-23 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cultural-house References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2015/03/20/depa-museum-renovation-cultural-house-of-pinhel-portugal-mirrored-ticket-office/) & [depa.pt](http://depa.pt/) Architecture and design firm depA recently renovated a magnificent 18th-century palace in Pinhel, Portugal to create an out-of-this-world cultural house. The Bishop's Palace was revamped by depA in order to make way for a museum honoring artist and comic book illustrator Jose Manuel Soares. A unique noteworthy feature of the new cultural house is a [mirrored rectangular ticket booth](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gallery-of-the-kings-at-the-museo-egizio) at the museum's entrance that serves to highlight the palace's architectural features rather than drawing attention to its new tourism features. A portion of the building had previously been transformed into a subdivision to provide student housing. The interior of the museum has been almost entirely reworked by depA, with the firm having recreated the patron's route through the museum experience. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.8/10 - Popularity: 34% | Activity: 11% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Revamped Cultural Houses:** Opportunity for architectural firms to renovate historical buildings into cultural spaces that celebrate art and history. - **Museum Enhancements:** Opportunity to incorporate innovative design elements, such as mirrored ticket booths, to enhance the visitor experience and highlight architectural features. - **Artist Museums:** Opportunity to create dedicated museums honoring specific artists or illustrators, providing a platform to showcase their work and inspire future generations. ### Where This Applies - **Architecture and Design:** Architectural firms can explore opportunities for renovating historical buildings and creating unique cultural spaces. - **Tourism and Hospitality:** The integration of innovative design elements in museums can enhance the tourism experience and attract more visitors. - **Art and Entertainment:** The creation of artist-specific museums provides an exciting space for art enthusiasts and educates the public about the works of notable artists. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Warehouse-Transformed Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-of-many-faces.md) - [Port Building-Nestled Museums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colectivo-c733.md) - [Jagget Metal Museum Entrances](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/baroque-museum-of-catalonia.md) - [Curved Surface Portuguese Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-house-within-a-few-lines.md) - [Pavilion-Style Art Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/galeria-house.md) - [Modern Football Museum Headquarters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arena-liga-portugal.md) - [Sculptural Inverted Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-house-with-an-inverted-roof.md) - [Paper-Inspired Artful Museums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/museum-for-papirkunst.md) - [Wine Tourism Guest Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/quinta-de-faisca.md)
