# Glass-Blown Birdhouses Cui by Adrian Froufe is a Nontraditional Fowl Feeder By Meghan Young | Published 2012-03-22 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cui-by-adrian-froufe References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2012/03/21/hand-blown-birdhouse/) & [adrianfroufe](http://adrianfroufe.com/) Cui by Adrian Froufe is an atypical birdhouse that looks more like a piece of home decor than an [outdoor feeder](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-bird-feeders). Made out of [hand-blown glass](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/navazi) and rope, this creation "rejects traditional forms associated with these type of objects," as put by the designer. Instead of blending into its natural surroundings, the [unique birdhouse](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-birdfeeder) stands out to make a stunning statement. Its brilliant white color coupled with the rustic straw-colored rope allows Cui by Adrian Froufe to do just that. Each birdhouse is blown by glass experts of the Corning Museum of Glass, which is based in New York City, and then individually assembled by hand. Despite the unorthodox materials used, Cui by Adrian Froufe is fully functional and welcoming to feathery creatures big and small. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.7/10 - Popularity: 10% | Activity: 4% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Pets](https://www.trendhunter.com/pets) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Nontraditional Bird Feeders:** There is an opportunity to design bird feeders that not only serve their functional purpose but also add a decorative element to outdoor spaces. - **Handmade Glass Art:** Artisans can explore the potential of blown glass to create functional yet beautiful objects, encouraging customers to appreciate the artistry behind everyday items. - **Rustic Modern Home Decor:** There is an opportunity to fuse traditional and modern design elements to create statement pieces that fit into a variety of interior design aesthetics. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Outdoor and Garden Decor:** The outdoor and garden decor industry can explore innovative ways to design bird feeders and other outdoor objects that also serve as pieces of art. - **Artisan Glassmaking:** The artisan glassmaking industry can expand its offerings beyond purely decorative objects and explore functional designs that incorporate blown glass. - **Home Decor and Furniture:** The home decor and furniture industry can incorporate rustic design elements into modern products to create statement pieces that appeal to a wide range of consumers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Interactive Observation Wooden Birdhouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/domik-ptashki.md) - [Modernism Birdhouse Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dwellings-project.md) - [Birdcage-Inspired Smart Speakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bird-intelligent-sound-box.md) - [Sustainable Bird House Feeders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bamboo-bird.md) - [Home Exterior Nesting Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/numbird.md) - [Educational Linoleum Birdhouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elvi-birdhouse.md) - [Highly Functional Bird Feeders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ori-bird.md) - [Birdhouse-Integrated Address Signs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/our-common-house.md) - [Bird-Shaped Food Packagings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bigbilled-bird-food-concept.md)
