# Lovely Illusory Storage Systems Cubious Bookshelf is Patterned for Further Three Dimensionality By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-03-06 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cubious-bookshelf References: [archidesignclub](http://www.archidesignclub.com/) & [dailytonic](http://www.dailytonic.com/cubious-bookshelf-by-kristina-lindqvist-fi/) They may generally be easier to manufacture but you don't require a bookcase consisting of perfect rectangular cubbies for the effective storage of reading material. The Cubious Bookshelf gets the job done quite well as an [abstract piece of furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelf-life) that embodies an assembly of slanted components. The two-sided shelving unit is composed of diamond-shaped openings and closed sections that together form the illusion of obliquely viewed rectangular prisms or cubes. The [smaller parallelograms offer shallow ledges](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ledge-shelf) for the placement of books and other possessions and they have been finished in an enchanting teal color of paint. They encourage the inevitable tilted arrangement of novels within. The [modular composition](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/original-modern-shelving) of Kristina Lindqvist's Cubious Bookshelf has a charming whimsicality about it, enhanced by the alternating white and wooden sides and the stilted base. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.8/10 - Popularity: 52% | Activity: 54% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Abstract Storage Units:** There is an opportunity for manufacturers to create more abstract and unconventional storage systems that increase the aesthetic appeal of a living space. - **Modular Furniture Design:** There is an opportunity to create modular furniture designs that can be customized to the owner's house, space availability, and preferred aesthetics. - **Whimsical Furniture Pieces:** There is an opportunity for manufacturers to create whimsical pieces such as the Cubious Bookshelf that bring personality and uniqueness to people's homes. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Furniture manufacturers can leverage 3D printing or computer-controlled cutting techniques to create more abstract and unconventional storage systems and other furniture pieces. - **Modular Housing:** Modular housing companies can benefit from providing customizable furniture options for their customers that fit in their unique floor plans. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can recommend and integrate unique pieces such as the Cubious Bookshelf to bring character and flair to their clients' living spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Twisting Donut-Shaped Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hullabaloo-bookshelf.md) - [Minimalist Bookish Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimal-bookshelf.md) - [Book-Storing Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookgroove-bookrack.md) - [Video Game-Like Bookcases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tetris-bookcase.md) - [Sculptural Bookshelves Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-bookshelf.md) - [Modular Contemporary Shelving Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/qurv.md) - [Sliding Wintery Landscape Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/manhwabang-bookshelf.md) - [Sandbox-Like Modular Storage Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-storage-cabinet1.md) - [Customizable Storage Furniture Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelved-modular-furniture.md)
