The elegant shelf [mounts in the corner](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folding-shelf) and holds your items on a series of ascending platforms. Each of the shelf's [solid wood cubes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/qub-candlestick) is able to hold up another object. German retailer The Fundamental Shop created the beautiful shelf out of [solid Douglas-fir wood](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/desk-shelf-pro) to give it character. As seasons pass and the temperature changes, the wood cracks and develops. The evolving shelf acquires more and more texture as time passes by. Though it may seem that the cracks are destroying the shelf, Fundamental designed it to stay stable. A Few Of My Favorite Things keeps its structural integrity even when there are fractures. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.8/10 - Popularity: 86% | Activity: 80% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Minimalist Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop sleek and minimalistic furniture designs that blend seamlessly into modern interiors. - **Sustainable Materials:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create products using durable and environmentally friendly materials that evolve and develop character over time. - **Corner Space Optimization:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Design innovative storage solutions that maximize the use of corner spaces in rooms. ### Who This Affects Most - **Home Furnishings:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Revolutionize the home furnishings industry by combining aesthetics with functionality to create versatile and visually appealing furniture pieces. - **Woodworking:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore unique techniques and materials in woodworking to create durable and visually intriguing furniture designs. - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop innovative strategies and products that help optimize and utilize every corner of a room for a more efficient and aesthetically pleasing living space. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [L-Shaped Stacked Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loft-shelf.md) - [Room-Dividing Bookshelf Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frquence-shelf.md) - [Dynamic Storage-Display Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelf-life.md) - [Modular Contemporary Shelving Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/qurv.md) - [Modular Configuration Shelving Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/repisa-01.md) - [Work-Life Balance Shelving Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/criteria-shelf.md) - [Adaptable Flat-Pack Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flat-pack-shelving.md) - [Customizable Style-Conscious Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ledoux-modular-shelf-system.md) - [Jigsaw Puzzle-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/puzzle-shelf.md)
