# Clear Boxy Flower Pots The Cube Planter is a Block-Like Reservoir, Storing Water Outside the Soil By Amelia Roblin | Published 2014-03-12 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cube-planter References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2014/03/11/boskke-cube-planter-giveaway-day-1/) & [boskke](http://www.boskke.com) At once, the Cube Planter embodies the conventional form of a flower pot, while expressing itself in a fresh geometric fashion. This item comprises the typical flaring shell with a protruding brim, yet the material that defines it extends out and around to take the shape of a purist prism. It's as if it becomes its own transparent display case, creating a cool optical effect that leaves the dirt and roots looking like they're hovering. Watering the Boskke Cube Planter is a bit different to the way you would usually do it; you don't actually pour liquid onto the earthy surface. Instead, locate a small hole in one corner of the box and fill it with H2O from there. The fluid's level will be obvious and help to indicate the greenery's hydration. A full cube will sustain stems, leaves and blossoms for a month. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.6/10 - Popularity: 34% | Activity: 5% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Geometric Planters:** Opportunity to create innovative designs of planters that incorporate geometric shapes and transparent materials. - **Alternative Watering Methods:** Opportunity to develop new ways of watering plants that are efficient and visually appealing, such as filling planters through small holes. - **Optical Effects in Planters:** Opportunity to explore optical illusions and visual effects in planters to create unique and captivating displays. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Home Decor:** Innovations in geometric planters can disrupt the home decor industry by offering aesthetically pleasing and functional options for indoor and outdoor spaces. - **Gardening:** Alternative watering methods like filling planters through small holes can disrupt traditional gardening practices by providing a more convenient and efficient way to hydrate plants. - **Retail:** Optical effects in planters can disrupt the retail industry by attracting customers with visually striking displays that enhance the presentation of plants and flowers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Uniquely Shaped Self-Watering Pots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/self-watering-plant-house.md) - [Futuristic Self-Watering Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-klaustrafloria.md) - [Self-Watering Compact Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/patella-crescenda.md) - [Multifunctional Plant Pots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/face-plant-planter.md) - [Self-Watering Desk Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/posha.md) - [Plant Watering Smart Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/growcube.md) - [Recycled Packaging Planter Pots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tetra-pak-and-keter.md) - [Water Catch-Integrated Planters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hemisphere.md) - [Self-Watering Flowerpots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gropot.md)
