Lovecraft's stories will surely want to get their hands on the [Cthulhu](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crkt-minimalist-cthulhu-knife) Tiki Mug before supplies run out. The handcrafted design is created by Jonathan "Atari" Chaffin and sculpted by Kristina Lucas Francis. The piece's official title, 'The Horror in Clay Cthulhu [tiki mug](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mario-mug),' comes from a chapter in Lovecraft's cult classic short story 'The Call of Cthulhu' where in which the discovery of a clay idol leads to the awakening of a primordial god. The emerald green of the sculpted mug endows with a antiquated and mystical allure, almost as if the piece itself were an ancient idol. The mug is available through the project's [Kickstarter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eureka-tumbler) page. Those who donate more than 40 dollars will receive Lovecraft memorabilia such as coasters, t-shirts, pin-ups and more -- a great way to honor the tentacled god. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.6/10 - Popularity: 20% | Activity: 20% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Drinking](https://www.trendhunter.com/drinking) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Tiki Mug Craze:** With the popularity of tiki bars on the rise, consumers crave unique and stylized barware like the Cthulhu Tiki Mug. - **Nostalgic Design:** Consumers are embracing designs that harken back to the past, creating a niche for niche products like the Cthulhu Tiki Mug. - **Fan-made Merchandise:** Fan-made merchandise continues to gain momentum with fans excited to support creators making products created by the fans, for the fans like the Cthulhu Tiki Mug. ### Where This Applies - **Craft Beer and Brewery Industry:** Craft breweries can create a unique experience for customers by sourcing custom tiki mugs like the Cthulhu Tiki Mug for their beer and taprooms. - **Tiki and Cocktail Industry:** The growing popularity of tiki bars presents an opportunity for barware brands like the Cthulhu Tiki Mug to market themselves to a new audience. - **Pop Culture Retail Industry:** Chances for creators in the Pop Culture Retail Industry to create unique merchandise that connects with fans and build a passionate following like the Cthulhu Tiki Mug. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Science Fiction-Inspired Pocket Knives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crkt-minimalist-cthulhu-knife.md) - [Curvaceously Ergonomic Tumblers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/porcelain-tumbler.md) - [Whimsical Halloween Drinkware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/2025-halloween-drinkware.md) - [Sci-Fi Show Drinking Vessels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/corkcicle-x-star-wars.md) - [Dinosaur-Shaped Kitchenware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kawaii-ceramic-dinosaur-mug.md) - [Artist-Designed Collectible Dining Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/killer-napkins.md) - [Sci-Fi Film Franchise Drinkware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/picard-tea-cup-set.md) - [Deep Sea-Themed Cocktail Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kraken-rum-1.md) - [Landmark-Inspired Glass Mugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/starbucks-mount-fuji-glass-mug.md)
