# Vintage Vase-Like Illuminators The Crystal Bulb by Lee Broom is Luxuriously Classy By Meghan Young | Published 2012-05-04 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crystal-bulb References: [trendir](http://www.trendir.com/archives/006419.html) & [leebroom](http://www.leebroom.com/products/crystal-bulb/) The [Crystal Bulb](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crystal-palace-dinosaurs) looks like something a grandmother would pull out of the basement, blow dust off and then hand down to the next generation. A stunning interpretation of the iconic incandescent light bulb, the Crystal Bulb is not only made out of crystal (which its name gives away), it also features the same cuts that [vintage vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/magnus-collection) are known to have. [Hand blown](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polaris) by interior and product designer Lee Broom in collaboration with experts at Cumbria Crystal, the sole remaining producer of handmade English full lead crystal in the UK, the Crystal Bulb is delicately decorative. Perfect for just about any living space, it has been designed to fit into standard ceiling, wall or lamp fitting. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.5/10 - Popularity: 56% | Activity: 42% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Vintage-inspired Lighting:** Disruptive innovation opportunities lie in creating modern lighting designs that incorporate vintage aesthetics. - **Handcrafted Crystal Products:** There is potential for disruptive innovation by combining traditional craftsmanship with contemporary designs to create luxurious crystal products. - **Decorative Light Bulbs:** Opportunities for disruptive innovation exist in designing light bulbs that serve both functional and decorative purposes. ### Where This Applies - **Lighting Design:** There is a potential for disruptive innovation in the lighting design industry to create unique and aesthetically pleasing lighting solutions. - **Crystal Manufacturing:** Disruptive innovation opportunities exist in reviving and modernizing the traditional craft of crystal manufacturing. - **Home Decor:** In the home decor industry, there are opportunities for disruptive innovation in creating visually striking and unique decorative items. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Crystal-Celebrating Light Capsule](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/port-light.md) - [Hand-Cast Crystal Glowing Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nola-lamp.md) - [Glassmaking Tubular Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flare-light.md) - [Artfully Functional Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chant.md) - [Plant-Inspired Dynamic Chandeliers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blossom-chandelier.md) - [Candy-Colored Glass Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wave-ii.md) - [Antique Lighting Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lee-broom-1.md) - [Dazzling Gradient Lighting Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-bulb.md) - [Bubble-Inspired Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bubbles-lighting-design.md)
