Finally, a functional map has found its place in the world. Emanuele Pizzolorusso is the designer of these go-to guides, dubbed the Crumpled City Maps, which are already available in a number of popular travel destinations. What makes these maps far superior to traditional maps is their construction; instead of paper, they are made out of a weightless, waterproof material. This means that they can be crumpled, stuffed and stored into any shape, and all in a matter of seconds. No more water-wrecked or ripped paper maps -- these [foldable guides](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/editions-pliables) will guide you home, while weathering the weather. Traditional paper maps are terrible and tearable. Need a reliable guide? Crumpled City Maps will guide you around the world. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.2/10 - Popularity: 42% | Activity: 17% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) > [Inventions](https://www.trendhunter.com/inventions) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Compact Maps:** Crumpled City Maps offer a compact and convenient alternative to traditional paper maps. - **Waterproof Maps:** The waterproof material used in Crumpled City Maps provides a durable solution for outdoor exploration. - **Foldable Guides:** The foldable design of Crumpled City Maps allows for easy storage and quick access on the go. ### Where This Applies - **Travel and Tourism:** Crumpled City Maps present an innovative solution for travelers seeking reliable navigation tools in an easily portable format. - **Outdoor Gear and Accessories:** The waterproof and tear-resistant material used in Crumpled City Maps opens up opportunities for creating other durable outdoor products. - **Printing and Publishing:** The introduction of Crumpled City Maps challenges traditional printing and publishing methods for maps, offering a new approach to map production. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Engaging Travel Maps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/travel-maps.md) - [Space-Saving Hydration Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flat-water-bottles.md) - [Collapsible Space-Saving Suitcases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jollying-pebble-suitcase.md) - [Ruggedized Rollable Bicycle Mudguards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bicycle-mudguard.md) - [Map-Inspired Fleece Blankets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/xplorer-maps.md) - [Ultra-Compact Packable Backpacks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nanobag-1.md) - [Foldable Luxury Luggage Pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rimowa-foldable.md) - [Accordion-Style Coffee Cups](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/accordion-paper-cup.md) - [Origami-Style Cyclist Helmets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/raba-helmet.md)
