This concept laptop really does look like it is a prop from the Star Trek set. Of course, the popularity of [Apple](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/macbook-go) touchscreens probably already prepared you for a design like this one. Designed by Philipp Schaake, one half of the German design team Sensid Studio, the Crowd notebook was a runner-up prize winner in [Fujitsu's](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/laptop-design-concept) Design Award 2011 competition, and for good reason. Aside from being extremely eye-catching, the Crowd notebook is quite unique as well. Aside from its colorful interface, it essentially separates into two modules, effectively giving you two tablets. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.6/10 - Popularity: 76% | Activity: 85% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Modular Laptops:** The Crowd notebook's ability to separate into two modules opens up opportunities for modular laptop designs, allowing users to customize and upgrade their devices. - **Sci-fi Inspired Design:** The popularity of science fiction and futuristic aesthetics, as seen in the Crowd notebook's Star Trek-like appearance, presents opportunities for designing consumer electronics that tap into this nostalgic and aspirational appeal. - **Touchscreen Innovation:** The integration of touchscreens in laptops, exemplified by the Crowd notebook's touch-based interface, highlights the potential for further advancements in touchscreen technology, creating new possibilities for user interaction and productivity. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Electronics Manufacturing:** The concept of modular laptops, like the Crowd notebook, introduces disruptive innovation opportunities for electronics manufacturers to develop customizable and upgradable devices that cater to different consumer needs. - **Tech Design and Aesthetics:** The demand for sci-fi inspired designs, as showcased by the Crowd notebook's Star Trek-like appearance, presents opportunities for tech designers to create visually captivating and nostalgic products that resonate with consumers. - **Touchscreen Technology:** The advancement of touchscreen technology, exemplified by the touch-based interface of the Crowd notebook, creates opportunities for companies in the touchscreen industry to develop innovative components and solutions that enhance user experiences across various devices. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Transparency-Focused Laptop Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nothing-book-1-concept.md) - [Transparent Crystalline Laptops](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lenovo-project-crystal.md) - [Modular Display Laptop Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/compal-dualflip-laptop.md) - [All-in-One Workstation Laptops](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lt1-laptop-concept.md) - [Size-Expanding Laptop Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/compal-electronics-infinite-laptop.md) - [Chromatic Customizable Display Laptops](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lenovo-thinkbook-13x-gen-4-spe.md) - [Retro-Futurism Computer Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tva-multifunctional-computer.md) - [Three-in-One Laptop Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seal-laptop.md) - [Touch Interface Keyboard Peripherals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/touch-keyboard.md)
