[Ferries, boats and water taxis](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/propel-kit) are all standard but expensive methods of getting across a body of water, but a conceptual design dubbed 'crosswater' has been introduced as a means of getting a group of people from one side to the other.

The design has been described as a 'horizontal elevator' essentially housing up to 15 people at a time and moving across the water, helping people get from one platform to the other. The aim of this design is to not only make [water travel more convenient and affordable](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/maritime-transportation-system), but to help decongest roads, bridges, and other high traffic areas that can surround the water.

In addition, this device was designed to be environmentally friendly.
