The side table is characterized by its bent plywood construction, which features a series of cross sections and thus creates a total of five cubby storage spaces therein. This offers the perfect spot for [storing books or small decor items](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookmarker-table), while the top section has a flat area for placing mugs or planters and a spot to leave an open book. The conceptual 'Crossbred' side table has a somewhat unorthodox design that's inherently efficient and maximizes functionality. This makes it perfect for placement in smaller and/or open-concept living spaces. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 7.0/10 - Popularity: 99% | Activity: 98% | Freshness: 12% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Asymmetrical Furniture:** Explore disruptive opportunities in designing asymmetrical furniture that maximizes functionality. - **Bent Plywood Construction:** Examine opportunities in using bent plywood construction to create unique furniture designs. - **Multi-functional Furniture:** Investigate opportunities in designing furniture that offers ample storage while also elevating style. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture:** The furniture industry can explore new designs in asymmetrical, multi-functional furniture using bent plywood construction to meet the needs of smaller homes and open-concept living. - **Interior Design:** The interior design industry can incorporate the unique and efficient design of asymmetrical side tables in modern home decor. - **Woodworking:** The woodworking industry can explore the use of bent plywood construction in creating unique furniture designs like the conceptual 'Crossbred' side table. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Puzzling Geometric Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linked-side-table.md) - [Intersecting Two-Part Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shaolin-side-table.md) - [Perplexingly Angular Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tadashi-side-table.md) - [Offset Shelf Sideboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crazy-slice-sideboard-concept.md) - [Minimalist Book Storage Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pocket-coffee-table.md) - [Book-Holding Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cowboy-sidetable.md) - [Bookcase-Equipped Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/low-wall-side-table.md) - [Book-Storing Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookgroove-bookrack.md) - [Multi-Position Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drop-side-table.md)
