# Shipping Container Housing The Crossbox by CG Architects is Made from Recycled Shipping Crates By Allison Love | Published 2010-06-01 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crossbox-by-cg-architects References: [treehugger](http://www.treehugger.com/files/2010/05/stunning-french-shipping-container-house.php) & [cgarchitectes.fr](http://www.cgarchitectes.fr/index3.html) The Crossbox by CG Architects is an [eco-friendly home](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-cabana) that has been made by [recycling old shipping containers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shor-house) and making them livable. The concept sort of reminds me of the traveling museum by Shigeru Ban, which was also made from old shipping crates. The Crossbox by CG Architects is built using [four different shipping containers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/custom-container-living-nook) and although it's a bit boxy for my liking, the house is definitely intricate and the design would stick out amongst the usual monotony of houses. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.7/10 - Popularity: 95% | Activity: 97% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Eco-friendly Housing:** There is a trend towards eco-friendly housing, and repurposing shipping containers is a great opportunity for innovation in this area. - **Modular Architecture:** Modular architecture is becoming increasingly popular with projects like The Crossbox, offering a new way to design and build homes and other structures. - **Sustainable Living:** The use of recycled materials to create livable spaces is a trend that reflects a growing interest in sustainable living practices. ### Who This Affects Most - **Construction:** The construction industry has an opportunity to explore new ways of building homes and structures using repurposed shipping containers. - **Architecture:** Architecture firms have the opportunity to design and build innovative, eco-friendly homes and structures using modular designs and recycled materials. - **Real Estate:** The real estate industry can embrace the trend towards sustainable living by promoting and investing in homes and structures created using recycled materials such as shipping containers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Triple Shipping Container Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modhouse-tiny-home.md) - [Versatile Compact Modern Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/augustine-tiny-home.md) - [Shipping Container Tiny Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rising-sun.md) - [Shipping Container-Built Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kennedy-model.md) - [Pink-Hued Shipping Container Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pink-shipping-container-homes.md) - [Ruin-Adaptive Shipping Container Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/barneys-ruins.md) - [Cost-Effective Shipping Container Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/custom-container-living-nook.md) - [Recycling-Centric Waterfront Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shor-house.md) - [Miniature Insulated Home Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ark-tiny-homes.md)
