[U.S. Publications Inc](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/Kyoto-Fusioneering). used information from a study by the [U.S. Department of Justice](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/veterans-networking-app) to compile a National Criminal Index application for [iPhones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/phonitor), iPads and iPods. It determines whether a registered offender is residing within a 40-mile radius of the user's location. After entering their zip code into the app, the user can then see a list of convicted criminals that live in their area, complete with names and addresses. Whether or not this will ease tensions about how safe ones neighborhood is, it will definitely help in picking which neighbor to ask for a cup of sugar. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.9/10 - Popularity: 6% | Activity: 14% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Mobile](https://www.trendhunter.com/mobile) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Criminal Tracker Apps:** The rise of criminal tracker apps provides opportunities for developers to enhance safety technology. - **Personal Safety Apps:** The development of personal safety apps presents new opportunities for businesses to disrupt the personal safety industry by introducing new technologies to increase consumer safety. - **Offender Location Technology:** Innovations in offender location technology provide new disruptive opportunities for businesses to enhance public safety. ### Where This Applies - **Mobile App Development:** Mobile app development industry can create new opportunities by incorporating features from criminal tracker apps to increase safety in their own apps. - **Personal Safety Industry:** The personal safety industry can innovate by incorporating new technologies such as offender location technology to create new and better safety devices. - **Law Enforcement Technology:** Innovations in law enforcement technology can help improve public safety and criminal activity prevention by integrating offender location technology. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Anti-Stalking App Features](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tile.md) - [Family Safety Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/family-safety-app.md) - [Stolen Art-Tracking Mobile Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/national-stolen-art-file.md) - [Cat Tracking Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/whisker-tracker.md) - [Proactive Police Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/police-apps.md) - [Tracker-Detecting Smartphone Updates](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/google-find-my-device-network.md) - [Phone Locator Alerts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fingerfind.md) - [Personal Safety Applications](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/citizen-app.md) - [Missing Child App Alerts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/Findmykids-App.md)
