A group of activists called the [Regional Committee for Viticultural Action](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/19-crimes-canned-wines) (aka CRAV) is giving French President, Nicholas Sarkozy, a monetary ultimatum – subsidize the distilling of surplus wine or feel its wrath. These terrorists of the grape have been known to hijack wine shipments and blow up government buildings.

I guess CRAV's motto is "French President's begin as grapes, and it's up to CRAV to stomp the cr_p out of them until they do something acceptable."

**Implications** - CRAV Grape Activists' demands included more money but it also stated that it wanted Europe to continue providing a subsidy for converting suplus wine into alcohol spirits. The activists point to a 1907 winemakers' uprising as part of their inspiration for the campaign. It will certainly be interesting to see how this plays out.
