# Crumpled Kitchen Tables The Crash Table by Judson Beaumont Adopts a Post-Collision Look By Amelia Roblin | Published 2011-12-05 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crash-table-by-judson-beaumont References: [likecool](http://www.likecool.com/Bad_table_by_Judson_Beaumont--Design--Gear.html) & [straightlinedesigns](http://www.straightlinedesigns.com/crash.html) Most furnishings are designed to sit still, yet the Crash Table by Judson Beaumont has been assembled to take the appearance of an object with a top speed of 35 miles per hour. Perhaps operating on the imaginative concept of dining tables as four-legged creatures, the creator has inflicted an impact-related injury upon this piece in quite a caricaturized way. While one half of the [wooden eating surface](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/renorm-table) takes an undeniably typical form, the other has been manipulated to look as though a head-on bump has squashed the material like an accordion. The rich Western Maple that makes up the Crash Table by Judson Beaumont has been supposedly [bent in the legs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/carpentopod) and cut and constructed into a [sharp zigzag on top](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sharp-table). The unusual form opens the possibilities for new and unique functions or simply compelling decor. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.9/10 - Popularity: 36% | Activity: 14% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Caricatured Furniture:** Opportunities for creating furniture with whimsical and unconventional designs that add an element of playfulness to spaces. - **Unique Functionality:** Innovations in furniture design that push the boundaries of traditional functionality, offering consumers new and exciting ways to interact with their furnishings. - **Compelling Decor:** Exploration of furniture as artistic pieces that can serve as focal points and conversation starters in interior design. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunities in creating furniture pieces that challenge traditional aesthetics and functionality while providing unique value propositions to consumers. - **Interior Design:** Opportunities for incorporating unconventional furniture designs into interior spaces to create visually engaging environments that reflect individuality. - **Art and Home Decor:** Innovations in the art and home decor industry where furniture pieces are seen as artistic expressions and functional sculptures, blurring the line between art and design. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Playful Accent Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bug-table.md) - [Dynamic Sculptural Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interactive-transformation-table.md) - [Juxtaposing Material Dining Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/compression-dining-table.md) - [Textile-Topped Table Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tumble-tables.md) - [Elegant Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tangent-table.md) - [Illusory Cracked Base Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/conceptual-side-table.md) - [Artwork-Inspired Dining Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/d12-dining-table.md) - [Light-Refracting Glass Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/look-mum-no-uv.md) - [Stacked Wood Dining Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plane-dining-table.md)
