# Spotlighting Industrial Illuminators The Cradle Lamp Provides Flexible Light as a Suspended Torch By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-09-12 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cradle-lamp References: [blog.leibal](http://blog.leibal.com/products/lighting/cradle-lamp/) & [romainpascal](http://www.romainpascal.com/) Made of metal and concrete, the Cradle Lamp might give off the impression that its positioning is fixed. Quite the contrary, this [tabletop illuminator](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/juba-tl1-table-lamp) can be adapted for use as a convenient flashlight as well. The table lamp has been designed with a sturdy poured bowl-like base and a laser-cut aluminum spine as its arm. A rope-covered cord leads down towards the subtly flaring fixture, sitting within the support of the notched brace. This piece is not firmly fastened to its structure, allowing the user to [easily release it from its cradle](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tangent-lamp). The cable remains connected to the wall socket, but Romain Pascal's Cradle Lamp can be employed within the room as a [handheld spotlight or a torch](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/onurhan-demir). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.5/10 - Popularity: 64% | Activity: 2% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Adaptive Lighting:** The Cradle Lamp demonstrates the trend of adaptive lighting by allowing users to easily release it from its base and use it as a handheld spotlight or torch. - **Industrial Design:** The design of the Cradle Lamp, with its metal and concrete materials, showcases the trend of industrial design in the lighting industry. - **Versatile Illumination:** The Cradle Lamp taps into the trend of versatile illumination by serving as both a tabletop lamp and a portable flashlight. ### Where This Applies - **Lighting:** The lighting industry can explore disruptive innovation opportunities by creating more adaptable and versatile lighting solutions, like the Cradle Lamp. - **Design:** The design industry can capitalize on the trend of industrial design by creating unique products that incorporate elements of metal and concrete, as seen in the Cradle Lamp. - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry can take inspiration from the Cradle Lamp's dual functionality and develop multi-purpose products that serve both functional and aesthetic purposes. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Conical Multifunctional Lamp Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-table-light.md) - [Versatile Torch-Style Lighting Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cono.md) - [Removable Illuminator Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frandsen-grasp-lamps.md) - [Multifunctional C-Shaped Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clamp.md) - [Rechargeable Portable Torch Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/piton-portable-lamp.md) - [Simplistic Angular Desktop Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linear-table-lamp.md) - [Modular Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aplat.md) - [Flexible Workstation Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/archflex-desk-lamp.md) - [Ultra-Flexible Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anywhereuse-lamp.md)
