# Lounging Rocking Chairs Cowrie Rocker by Brodie Neill Allows for a Stretched Out Position By Meghan Young | Published 2013-03-29 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cowrie-rocker References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2013/03/28/cowrie-rocker-by-brodie-neill-for-made-in-ratio/) & [madeinratio](http://www.madeinratio.com/) [Rocking chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ready-rocker) are often just that, chairs, but the Cowrie Rocker has expanded the design to become a sort of hybrid with a [classic chaise longue](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/calma-lounge). By doing so, the Cowrie Rocker allows for a more relaxing repose. People will be able to stretch out and rock at the same time. In a way, it is like a solidified hammock. Designed by London-based designer Brodie Neill for Made in Ratio, the Cowrie Rocker will launch with the new brand at [Salon Internazionale del Mobile](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cj-hendry-pastel) in April 2013. Its sleek and simple silhouette has been crafted out of wood. Reminiscent of an elongated fortune cookie, the shape is curvaceous and has slight openings for a hollow effect. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.9/10 - Popularity: 56% | Activity: 23% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Hybrid Furniture:** Designers are combining elements of different furniture types to create innovative and versatile pieces like the Cowrie Rocker. - **Relaxation Enhancement:** Furniture designs like the Cowrie Rocker are providing new ways for people to relax and find comfort in their homes. - **Curvaceous Silhouettes:** Furniture designs are embracing organic and curvaceous shapes, introducing a new aesthetic to interior design. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Design:** The Cowrie Rocker represents an opportunity for furniture designers to explore hybrid concepts and create unique and functional pieces. - **Home Decor:** The relaxation-enhancing features of the Cowrie Rocker can be used to enhance the comfort and ambiance of homes, creating new opportunities in the home decor industry. - **Interior Design:** The curvaceous silhouette of the Cowrie Rocker introduces a new design element for interior designers to incorporate in their projects, allowing for more organic and expressive spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Wooden Lounge Rocking Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nice-chair.md) - [Contemporary Rocking Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/penguin-rocking-chair.md) - [Soothing Boat-Like Lounge Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/canoa-chair.md) - [Fabric-Wrapped Rocking Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zhe-rocking-chair.md) - [Geometric Rocking Chair Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oval-rocking-chair.md) - [Vibrant Chaise Lounge Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/versarest.md) - [Rocking Outdoor Chair Attachments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rocking-feet.md) - [Otherworldly Themed Rocking Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ufo-rocking.md) - [Dynamic Movement Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wobbl-rocking-chair.md)
