# Dining Centerpiece Plungers Couvercle by Allt Challenges the Boundaries of Objects in the Home By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-09-04 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/couvercle-by-allt References: [allt.sk](http://www.allt.sk/?page=Work&id=couvercle) It might look rather convincingly like a luxury toilet bowl unblocker but Couvercle by Allt is not intended for the bathroom at all. Surprisingly, this familiar plumbing object has actually been made for the kitchen or dining room -- two spaces in which you would especially not want crossover from the washroom. Not only is this item intended to sit as a decoration in the center of your dining table, placing it quite close to your food, but it's purpose can be to act as a [contemporary sculptural cover for edibles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/berto-hidden-secrets) that might become stale with exposure to air. Of course, Couvercle by Allt should not make you feel queasy. It's been exquisitely crafted from [elegant transparent glass](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tip-top-glass) and topped with softly sanded wood. Without asserting itself sarcastically, the poised toilet plunger strives to challenge people's strict associations with certain possessions. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.7/10 - Popularity: 7% | Activity: 7% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Unconventional Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create unique and unexpected home decor pieces that challenge traditional associations with everyday objects. - **Functional Sculptural Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Combine functionality and artistic expression in design to create visually appealing and purposeful objects. - **Cross-over Accessories:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore the potential for unconventional crossover objects that challenge preconceived notions and blur boundaries. ### Where This Applies - **Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Introduce unconventional and thought-provoking designs to the home decor industry to create a new wave of artistic and functional pieces. - **Industrial Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Combine functionality and aesthetics in industrial design to create innovative products that challenge traditional expectations. - **Art and Sculpture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Push the boundaries of art and sculpture by incorporating functionality and everyday objects into artistic expressions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Aesthetic Bathroom Plungers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-plunger.md) - [Quirky Toilet Brushes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stylish-toilet-brush.md) - [Chic Stackable Tableware Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tableware-ecosystem.md) - [Luxurious Sculptural Candle Holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-candle-holders.md) - [Dual-Purpose Vintage-Inspired Home Objects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vintageinspired-home-object.md) - [Multifunctional Kitchen Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/latticeboard-multipurpose-kitchen-board.md) - [Illuminating Home Display Pedestals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/welcome-decor-piece.md) - [Sustainable Kitchen Gear](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/legni-collection.md) - [Quirky Fungi Kitchenwares](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/magic-mushroom-funnel.md)
