Light as can be with a soft spun look, these [strings of lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/govee-outdoor-string-lights-2) feature large bubbles made out of cotton. They are covered in different colored strings, shading the light embedded within each ball and creating a [soft glow](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/big-glow-light) that has a slight color to it. You can dangle strings of these balls in every corner, line the edges of your patio or cluster them near chairs and tables. The moody lighting created by these lanterns fills the air with a mysterious and romantic ambiance that can't be recreated using harsh white lights. The whimsical Cotton Ball Patio Lights can be bought in a set of 20. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.1/10 - Popularity: 44% | Activity: 41% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Colorful Patio Lights:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop smart patio lights that can change colors and be controlled via smartphone app. - **Soft Glow Lanterns:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create lanterns with adjustable lighting intensity that can be used for both indoor and outdoor spaces. - **Romantic Ambiance Lighting:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Design battery-operated lanterns that emit flickering candle-like lights for a cozy and intimate atmosphere. ### Where This Applies - **Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop customizable lighting solutions for different occasions and moods. - **Event Planning:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create unique lighting options for weddings, parties, and other special occasions. - **Outdoor Living:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Invent durable and weather-resistant lighting fixtures that transform outdoor spaces into inviting and enchanting environments. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Farmhouse-Style Solar Lanterns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solarpowered-outdoor-lantern.md) - [Silk Textural Lantern Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lantern-collection.md) - [Mosquito-Repelling Outdoor String Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/outdoor-string-lights.md) - [Pear-Shaped Outdoor Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/outdoor-lamp1.md) - [Lantern-Inspired Soft Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fermob-lighting.md) - [Smart Fairy Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-fairy-lights.md) - [Flickering Candle-Inspired Lanterns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nebo-big-poppy.md) - [Soft Luxe Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lantern-silk-collection.md) - [Dreamlike Bubble-Shaped Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airshape-lamp.md)
