In addition, Jarmund/Vigsnæs Architects draw inspiration from the recent surge in popularity of rustic exteriors. The house is L-shaped, spread over three floors with two rooftop terraces on the first and second. The interior of the Corten steel home is spacious and elongated, featuring an all-around wooden texture. The rustic component of the Corten steel home is present within, as the framework of the staircase boasts the [weathered material](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/river-hills-residence) with thin railings. Jarmund/Vigsnæs Architects use concrete and plywood for the construction of this residential house, but the most striking component comes from the low-maintenance and budget-friendly [rusty facade](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/acute-house) that makes the building decidedly stand out in the rather architecturally homogeneous neighborhood. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.8/10 - Popularity: 42% | Activity: 33% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Low-maintenance Home Exteriors:** The popularity of low-maintenance home exteriors presents an opportunity for architects and designers to explore innovative materials and construction techniques. - **Rustic Design Revival:** The recent surge in popularity of rustic exteriors provides a chance for businesses to create products and services that cater to this growing trend. - **Weathered Material Integration:** Architects and builders can capitalize on the appeal of weathered materials like Corten steel to create unique and visually striking design elements. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Architecture and Design:** The use of innovative materials and design concepts in homes like Corten steel exteriors presents opportunities for architects and designers to create distinctive and visually appealing structures. - **Construction and Building Materials:** The demand for low-maintenance and weathered materials like Corten steel opens up opportunities for manufacturers and suppliers to provide unique building materials that cater to the growing market. - **Home Improvement and Renovation:** The revival of rustic design and the popularity of low-maintenance exteriors provide an opportunity for home improvement businesses to offer services that cater to these trends, such as facade renovations and the use of weathered materials. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Corten Steel Home Extensions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rusty-house.md) - [Steel-Wrapped Contemporary Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bully-hill-house.md) - [Corten Steel Unconventional Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/la-stanza-che-non-c.md) - [Minimal Mountain Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caju-house.md) - [Recycling-Centric Waterfront Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shor-house.md) - [Weatherized Steel Pyramidal House](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/four-roof-house.md) - [Steel Facade-Wrapped Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bomun-house.md) - [Cantilevered Walkway Steel Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/olson-kundig-1.md) - [Raw Blackened-Wood Family Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yamaguchicho-house.md)
