# Metal-Clad Restaurant Interiors This Finnish Restaurant is Lined with Corrugated Metal Wall Panels By Katherine Pendrill | Published 2016-05-03 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/corrugated-metal-wall-panels References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2016/05/02/joanna-laajisto-ox-restaurant-interior-design-helsinki-corrugated-metal-walls/) & [joannalaajisto](http://joannalaajisto.com/projects/ox/) Finnish designer Joanna Laajisto recently gave a tiny restaurant a contemporary upgrade by lining the interior with corrugated metal wall panels. With a growing demand for industrial-style decor, the new restaurant interior helps to give the eatery a chic, urban atmosphere. The restaurant redecorated by Laajisto is called 'OX' and it is located in the heart of Helsinki. To match the restaurant's contemporary menu, Laajisto decided to line the interior with corrugated metal walls in a soft mint-green color. The new decor not only gives the restaurant a more modern look, but it also provides acoustics. The pastel walls were then offset with orange leather sofas and sleek marble tables. The entire design scheme is inspired by the look of old slaughter houses fitted with unfinished metal walls. This inspiration comes from the fact that the space has a long history as a steak house prior to becoming OX. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.5/10 - Popularity: 79% | Activity: 79% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Industrial-style Decor:** Opportunity for businesses to incorporate industrial-style decor into their interiors for a chic and urban atmosphere. - **Metal Wall Panels:** Innovative use of corrugated metal wall panels as a design element to create a modern and sleek look. - **Acoustic Solutions:** Growing demand for interior design solutions that provide both aesthetics and improved acoustics. ### Who This Affects Most - **Restaurant and Hospitality:** Restaurants and hotels can adopt industrial-style decor and innovative interior design solutions to create unique dining experiences. - **Interior Design:** Opportunities for interior designers to experiment with new materials, such as metal wall panels, to create dynamic and visually appealing spaces. - **Furniture and Furnishings:** Manufacturers and retailers of furniture and furnishings can cater to the demand for industrial-style decor by offering complementary products like leather sofas and sleek marble tables. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Fast-Casual Industrial Style Restaurants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rale-milanga.md) - [Reclaimed Interior Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/onyx-aether.md) - [Curved Wall Restaurant Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tin-tin.md) - [Retro-Futurist Restaurant Interiors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/retrofuturist-restaurant.md) - [Garden Shed-Inspired Restaurants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plumbago.md) - [Garden Shed-Inspired Mexican Restaurants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plumbago-restaurant.md) - [Brutalist Museum Restaurants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cantabrian-maritime-museum.md) - [Modernist Burger Interiors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/omg-burger-i.md) - [Famed Paintings-Covered Restaurants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frescohallen.md)
