It will become the first fully digital Latin American airport to incorporate the biometric platform. It launched the transition with the infusion of a [self-service boarding process](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dallas-fort-worth-international-airport), marking the first time in Latin America where passengers are able to board the plane without showing their passports or their boarding pass -- boarding securely with a face scan. There are currently 16 gates that have the functioning program, with plans to expand the entire Carrasco Airport to become a complete "end-to-end contactless experience." The company has officially signed an exclusive collaborative agreement with Vision-Box to broaden this travel experience across a set of commercial airports throughout Latin America and Europe. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.6/10 - Popularity: 18% | Activity: 22% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Autos](https://www.trendhunter.com/autos) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Contactless Biometric Platforms:** The incorporation of contactless biometric platforms in airports can revolutionize the way passengers move through airports, offer more security, and avoid the spread of disease. - **Self-service Boarding:** Self-service boarding can help automate airport procedures and save time for both passengers and airport staff. - **Fully Digital Airports:** Fully digital airports can increase the efficiency of airport operations, streamline the passenger experience, and enable new revenue streams for airport operators. ### Where This Applies - **Airport Technology:** The incorporation of contactless biometric platforms and self-service boarding in airports offers disruptive innovation opportunities for airport technology companies to create new solutions, improve passenger experience, and enhance airport security. - **Biometrics:** The incorporation of contactless biometric platforms in airports offers disruptive innovation opportunities for biometric companies to develop new solutions, enhance security and identity verification, and create new services for airports and airlines. - **Travel and Tourism:** The digitization and automation of airport operations offer disruptive innovation opportunities for travel and tourism companies to create new products and services, improve the passenger experience, and leverage data to personalize offers and marketing campaigns. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Contactless Airport Shops](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airport-shop.md) - [Comprehensive Air Travel Programs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/avianca-accessible.md) - [AI-Powered Airport Restaurants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/barcelona-airport.md) - [AI-Backed Airport Lanes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clear.md) - [Inclusive Airport Initiatives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/be-my-eyes2.md) - [Smartphone Passport ID Features](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/apple-digital-id.md) - [Simulated Air Travel Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/simulated-air-travel.md) - [Aviation-Centric Facial Imaging Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/facial-imaging-app.md) - [Updated Airport Baggage Drops](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/queenstown-airport.md)
