# Pregnancy-Perfect Plumbing The Corolla Toilet Caters to the Comfort of Mothers-to-Be By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-12-13 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/corolla-toilet References: [red-dot.sg](http://www.red-dot.sg/en/online-exhibition/concept/?code=1011&y=2013&c=14&a=0) Needless to say, carrying a child does not generally feel pleasant to the female parent, and all matters relating to the bathroom are even less agreeable. The Corolla Toilet is an innovative revamping of the [standard latrine](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/design-changes-everything) that's tailored to the needs of [mothers to be](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/regalo-baby-1). First of all, the john was raised up by 5 centimeters in order to be less of a strain on the pregnant woman's muscles as she lowers herself down and rises once more. An 8-degree forward tilt to the seat also facilitates these tiresome movements. Lime green cushioning material enhances comfort against the skin and sculpted armrests serve as helpful handrails. The [plug-in washlet bathroom fixture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/coway) won a 2013 Red Dot Design Award. I'm sure the added foot-massaging stool also had something to do with that. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.6/10 - Popularity: 39% | Activity: 61% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 10% men, 90% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Pregnancy-friendly Plumbing:** Designing plumbing fixtures that cater to the needs of pregnant women creates a new market opportunity for companies. - **Ergonomic Toilets:** Incorporating ergonomic features like raised height and forward tilt into toilet design can improve comfort for a wider range of users. - **Luxury Bathroom Fixtures:** Enhancing bathroom fixtures with features like foot-massaging stools and sculpted armrests can add value for consumers. ### Who This Affects Most - **Plumbing Fixtures:** Manufacturers of plumbing fixtures can tap into the pregnancy-friendly market by designing products with ergonomic features. - **Home Improvement:** Companies in the home improvement sector can offer pregnancy-friendly plumbing fixtures as part of their product offerings. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers working on residential spaces can incorporate pregnancy-friendly plumbing fixtures into their designs to add comfort for expectant mothers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Feature-Packed Smart Toilets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neolet.md) - [Futuristic Intelligent Toilets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/intelligent-toilet.md) - [Brutalist Smart Toilets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/formation-02.md) - [Compact Portable Toilet Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-toilets.md) - [Inflatable Portable Toilets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airpot.md) - [Accessible Bathware Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/care-collection-accessible.md) - [Water-Free Telescoping Toilet Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clesana-x1.md) - [Dual-Wand Bidet Toilet Seats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bidet-toilet-seat1.md) - [Hygienic Auto-Flushing Toilets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/close-the-lid-toilet.md)
