# Contorting Desk Lamps This Cork Lamp Can Be Held in Any Direction or Place By Mishal Omar | Published 2016-07-25 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cork-lamp References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/flexible-lamp-named-counterpoise/?utm_source=feedly&utm_medium=webfeeds) & [saif-faisal](http://www.saif-faisal.com/counterpoise-lamp/) The minimalist design of this cork lamp does not take away from its functionality. There's no shortage of [desk lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hilight-lumenforge) on the market, but few are able to improve the look of a room when they are not even in use. The 'Counterpoise Lamp' created by the design workshop SAIF is one of the few that do this. The lamp comes with a [matte black circular base](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ovo-lamp) and shaft on which the cork lamp can rest on, however it is not a necessary part of the lamp as it can come off completely and rest on the table alone. With virtually no hardware visible, this lamp is functional without sacrificing style. This cork lamp is perfect for people looking to make their office spaces more modern. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.6/10 - Popularity: 69% | Activity: 61% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Minimalist Desk Lamps:** Design more desk lamps with minimalist aesthetics to improve room decor even when not in use. - **Portable Lamps:** Create desk lamps that are easy to detach and carry to different locations for improved functionality and flexibility. - **Adjustable Lamps:** Design desk lamps that are flexible and can be adjusted to different angles and orientations for better lighting and usability. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Design:** Introduce innovative lamp designs into furniture collections to improve room lighting and ambiance. - **Workplace Accessories:** Create a range of portable and adjustable desk lamps to help with work productivity and enhance aesthetic appeal. - **Interior Design:** Partner with interior designers to create new lamp designs that are modern and functional for various room styles and spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Space-Saving Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spacesaving-desk-lamp.md) - [Ultra-Flexible Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anywhereuse-lamp.md) - [Cork-Base Spinning Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spinmemo.md) - [Minimalist Workstation Task Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/desk-lamp-concept.md) - [Portable Pen-Holding Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pod-lamp-concept.md) - [Bamboo-Inspired Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-desk-lamp.md) - [Multifunctional Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-boring-lamp.md) - [Demure Designer Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/designer-desk-lamp.md) - [Dynamically Customizable Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/illum-desk-light.md)
