# Delicate Birch-Leaf Baskets Corbeilles by Pierre Brichet Sculpts Form from Fine Wooden Blades By Amelia Roblin | Published 2011-04-16 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/corbeilles-by-pierre-brichet References: [larevuedudesign](http://www.larevuedudesign.com/2011/04/11/corbeilles-design-pierre-brichet/) & [pierrebrichet](http://www.pierrebrichet.com/) Some of the most enthralling designs exist in pieces that suggest space subtly rather than firmly defining it, and Corbeilles by Pierre Brichet is a collection of baskets in which the voids are as integral to their forms as the materials themselves. Extremely [fine strips of birch](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/charity-hanger) were plotted and laser-cut to create the [lovely layers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woven-structures-collection) of these perfect panniers. The shape of each object has been created with the help of notched dividing bands along the bottom, while towards the handles at the top of the pieces, the wooden ribbons find themselves merging. A variety of different models have been designed for Corbeilles by Pierre Brichet, each with its own fetching fragility. There is a softness to the [natural laminated baskets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/woven-chair-designs), and with just a little added color, those painted black assert far more authority over the space they occupy. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.1/10 - Popularity: 13% | Activity: 13% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 10% men, 90% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Subtle Space Design:** The use of voids as integral elements in design to suggest space rather than define it. - **Laser-cut Woodcraft:** The use of laser cutting technology to create intricate designs in wood. - **Fragile Elegance:** The incorporation of a delicate and refined aesthetic in product design. ### Where This Applies - **Interior Design:** Utilizing subtle space design techniques to create unique and visually appealing interiors. - **Woodworking:** Exploring the potential of laser-cutting technology to create intricate designs in wood products. - **Art and Craft:** Creating delicate and elegant pieces that blend art and functionality in unique ways. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sophisticated Upcycled Home Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/basket-sculptures.md) - [Sculptural Paper Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragmenti.md) - [Sculptural Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightness-of-form.md) - [Curvaceous Sculptural Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/strate-bench.md) - [Illusion Organic Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/siembra-capsule.md) - [Sculptural Mixed-Material Artful Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pierre-renart.md) - [Sculptural Mixed-Media Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folded-echoes.md) - [Minimal Flat-Pack Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arba.md) - [Willow Tree-Inspired Lighting Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/larose-guyon.md)
