We've already seen a [Jell-O SF](http://www.trendhunter.com/trends/san-francisco-in-jell-o-liz-hickok) landscape, and now there's this cityscape made of pots, pans and other kitchen tools. Zhan Wang, a Beijing artist, is the creator of this metal masterpiece, which is currently on display at the San Francisco [Asian Art Museum](http://asianart.org/pressroom/zhanwangimages.htm). He makes his projects by bending metal around rocks he collects from various regions of the world. "Wang has selected rocks from the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, alluding to the nineteenth-century Chinese immigrant experience of mining gold during the California gold rush,' the Museum's site says. "Both the actual rocks and their stainless steel versions will be exhibited. The artist will also create a topographic San Francisco cityscape–one of his 'urban landscape' series– using steel rocks, [mirrored surfaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flowers-and-butterflies-are-dancing), silverware, and [stainless steel pots and pans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hestan-culinary)." It's incredible to see that from a variety of mediums, different artists' interpretations can result in such incredibly diverse visual translations, yet they remain recognizable to anyone familiar with the SF skyline. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.4/10 - Popularity: 29% | Activity: 6% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Kitchen Tool Art:** The use of kitchen tools as an artistic medium presents disruptive innovation opportunities for the art industry. - **Metal Masterpieces:** The creation of intricate sculptures using metal and unconventional materials provides disruptive innovation opportunities for the sculpture industry. - **Urban Landscapes:** The representation of cities through unconventional materials and techniques offers disruptive innovation opportunities for the art and design industry. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art:** The art industry can explore the use of unconventional materials, such as kitchen tools and metal, to create unique and visually stunning artworks. - **Sculpture:** The sculpture industry can embrace unconventional materials and techniques to push the boundaries of traditional sculpture and create captivating metal masterpieces. - **Design:** The design industry can explore innovative ways to represent urban landscapes using unconventional materials and techniques, opening up new possibilities for visual communication and expression. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Statement Street Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surreal-street-art-1.md) - [Origami-Inspired Steel Art Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reflector-sculpture.md) - [Reflective Urban Art Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minibean.md) - [Whimsical Sculptural Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/city-block-series.md) - [Public Bench Interpretation Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/works-in-progress-iii.md) - [Skyscraper-Inspired Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ben-ganz.md) - [Distorted Furniture Street Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/first-kiss-at-last-light.md) - [Ceramic Modern Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hillsborough-residence.md) - [Laser-Cut Urban Artistry](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/laser-cut-city-maps.md)
