# Playful Neon Crawlspaces Check Out this Cool Converted Library for Kids By Vasiliki Marapas | Published 2013-09-17 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/converted-library References: [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/gallery/Ninos-Conarte/10838253) & [retaildesignblog.net](http://retaildesignblog.net/2013/09/12/ninos-conarte-by-anagrama-monterrey-mexico/) Contarte and Anagrama have collaborated in updating a space in Fundidora park – a former steel foundry -- in Mexico into a playful converted library and cultural center for children. The bookshelves are made to mimic Monterry, Mexico’s hilly topography. The result is a space where children can [freely roam, play and climb](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/archipelago-playscape) without restraint. These mountain-inspired shelving units are bordered with bright colors like neon pink and yellow, which makes for a colorful contrast to the historical building they are within. This modernized design is meant to stimulate creativity and imagination whilst offering comfy accommodations. This new update – which was made more difficult by the fact that the heritage site status made the building untouchable – definitely makes the warehouse a brighter and warmer environment for learning and reading. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.3/10 - Popularity: 24% | Activity: 7% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: South America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Playful Converted Libraries:** Opportunity for creating modernized libraries that stimulate creativity and imagination through playful designs. - **Neon-themed Spaces:** Opportunity to incorporate bright and colorful neon elements into architectural designs for a visually striking and engaging environment. - **Child-centered Cultural Centers:** Opportunity for creating cultural centers that cater specifically to children, providing spaces for exploration, play, and learning. ### Where This Applies - **Architecture and Design:** Opportunity to disrupt traditional architectural designs by incorporating playful elements and unconventional features. - **Education:** Opportunity to transform traditional library spaces into more engaging and interactive learning environments for children. - **Heritage Conservation and Adaptive Reuse:** Opportunity to revitalize historic buildings and repurpose them into vibrant spaces for cultural and educational activities. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Children's Story-Inspired Libraries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/western-academy.md) - [Playfully Vibrant Studio Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colgio-salesiano.md) - [Wood-Wrapped Contemporary Libraries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/graded-school-library.md) - [Tent‑Filled Daycare Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/deya-day-care.md) - [Abstract Colorfully Vibrant Playscapes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wired-scape.md) - [Mobile Glass Libraries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/la-libreria.md) - [Nature-Inspired Indoor Playgrounds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sarit-shani-hay.md) - [Yellow-Accented School Interiors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/school-interior.md) - [Tree-Like Library Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forest-of-knowledge.md)
