# Warped Wire Illuminators The Contour Lamp Appears Like a Stiff Extension of its Electrical Cord By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-04-13 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/contour-lamp References: [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/gallery/CONTOUR-lamp/1892275) Structurally, the Contour Lamp expresses the essence of [minimalism](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flat-light); however, it evokes intrigue in the eyes of observers with its crooked composition. Made of a single slender tube of steel, the light fixture extends as a continuous line from its cable. Jacob Nitz was able to produce a [desk lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/juba-tl1-table-lamp) with a stand, a shaft and a head, all with the same length of metal. To form its base, the designer bent the material into a flat U shape, flexing it upwards at its tip and and the start of its stem. A slight kink in its midsection gives the piece a quirky [sculptural appeal](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polyshape-lamp). The Contour Lamp is complete with a horizontal segment that integrates a pivotal armature of LED lights. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.7/10 - Popularity: 11% | Activity: 3% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Minimalist Lighting:** The Contour Lamp exemplifies the trend of minimalism in lighting design, providing an opportunity for businesses to create sleek and simple lighting fixtures. - **Crooked Composition:** The use of a crooked composition in the Contour Lamp creates an intriguing and unique aesthetic, offering businesses the chance to explore unconventional design elements in their products. - **Integrated LED Technology:** The Contour Lamp incorporates LED lights within its design, showcasing the growing trend of integrating energy-efficient lighting technology into products, presenting an opportunity for businesses to create eco-friendly lighting solutions. ### Where This Applies - **Lighting Design:** The Contour Lamp highlights innovative design concepts in the lighting industry, encouraging businesses to explore new ways to create visually striking and functional lighting products. - **Furniture Design:** The unique and sculptural appeal of the Contour Lamp opens up opportunities for businesses in the furniture industry to create statement lighting pieces that blend seamlessly with interior décor. - **Sustainable Technology:** By incorporating LED lights, the Contour Lamp aligns with the sustainable technology trend, providing businesses in the technology industry with the chance to develop energy-efficient and environmentally friendly lighting solutions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Weighted Multi-Position Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-desk-lamp-design.md) - [Suspended Halo Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lamplox-minimalist-floor-lamp.md) - [Organically Shaped Shadow Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loops-lamp.md) - [Interactive Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tangent-lamp.md) - [Stealthy Pendant Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/warp-lamp.md) - [Sculptural Wooden Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arc-lamp.md) - [Cutesy Coiled Floor Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-helix-lamp.md) - [Ribbed Tubular Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stella-desk-lamp.md) - [Geometric Industrial Desktop Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nebula-lamp.md)
