# Space-Time Tables The Continuum Table by Jason Phillips is Science-Inspired By Michael Hines | Published 2010-01-31 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/continuum-table References: [industrialdesignserved](http://www.industrialdesignserved.com/Gallery/Continuum-Table/373293) & [jasonphillipsdesign](http://www.jasonphillipsdesign.com/) The Continuum table is a [smart piece of furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/expand-furniture). This unique table is inspired by the space-time continuum. What is the space-time continuum, you ask? Well, according to designer and super smart man Jason Phillips, the space-time continuum is "'spaghetti-like' structures form an [invisible network of folds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moving-furniture) of space and time in our universe." The Continuum table seems like an accurate representation of this invisible concept. Even if the space-time continuum is a giant square, the Continuum table is still a [cool piece of work](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-coffee-tables). I approve. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.2/10 - Popularity: 7% | Activity: 21% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Science-inspired Furniture:** There is potential for companies to create more furniture designs inspired by science concepts and ideas. - **Invisible Concept Visualization:** Invisible concepts can be better visualized through furniture designs such as the Continuum table. - **Geometry and Space-time:** Geometry-based design in furniture can be a new trend, with space-time as a theme or inspiration. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Design:** Furniture companies can incorporate science-inspired designs into their product lines. - **Science Outreach:** Science outreach organizations can use science-inspired furniture designs to promote interest and education in science concepts. - **Interior Design:** Interior design companies can create unique pieces of furniture inspired by science concepts for their clients. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sci-Fi-Inspired Dynamic Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spacetime-transformation-lamp.md) - [Elegant Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tangent-table.md) - [Interlocking Puzzle-Like Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/connect-table.md) - [Möbius Strip-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mbelius-coffee-table.md) - [Fluid Topographic Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dune-table.md) - [Subtly Smart Dining Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/etto-table.md) - [Kinetic Artful Sand Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arrakis-30.md) - [Harmonious Helical Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vortex-coffee-table.md) - [Juxtaposing Material Dining Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/compression-dining-table.md)
