# USB Port Batteries The Continuance USB Battery Charger Powers and Recharges at the Same Time By Michael Hines | Published 2011-04-02 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/continuance-usb-battery-charger References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2011/03/31/the-power-play-continues/) It has been awhile since I have stumbled across a design as simple and as brilliant as the Continuance USB Battery Charger. Continuance is a [rechargeable battery](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linogy) designed to give a little extra juice to battery and USB-powered gadgets in need. The Continuance USB Battery Charger was designed by Haimo Bao, Hailong Piao, Yuancheng Liu and Xiameng Hu for the 2011 iF Concept Design competition. The built-in USB port of Continuance is what sets this battery apart from all others. Imagine being able to power a dead digital camera and [charge a cellphone](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/qubii-power) using the same device. I am probably a little overly excited about this design, but it isn't everyday that you see a concept that is both practical and innovative. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.8/10 - Popularity: 52% | Activity: 83% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Rechargeable USB Batteries:** The trend of rechargeable USB batteries offers the convenience of powering and recharging gadgets at the same time. - **Multi-functional Batteries:** The trend of multi-functional batteries that can power and charge multiple devices simultaneously presents disruptive possibilities for the electronics industry. - **Integrated USB Ports:** The trend of integrating USB ports into batteries opens up opportunities for more versatile and convenient power solutions. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Consumer Electronics:** The consumer electronics industry can capitalize on the trend of rechargeable USB batteries to offer enhanced functionality and convenience to consumers. - **Mobile Devices:** The mobile device industry can leverage the trend of multi-functional batteries to provide users with a seamless and efficient charging experience. - **Smart Home Technology:** The smart home technology industry can explore the potential of integrated USB ports in batteries to power and connect various IoT devices. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sustainable Rechargeable Batteries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paleblue-usbc-cells.md) - [Camping-Ready Portable Batteries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mobile-universe.md) - [Illuminated Charger Design Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/current-concept.md) - [Patch-Style Smartphone Power Packs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/battery-pods.md) - [Frozen Treat Power Banks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/popsic-charger.md) - [Sleek Compact Minimal Chargers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-charger.md) - [Powerful Portable Battery Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/highperformance-portable-battery.md) - [Data Backup Device Chargers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/photofast-photopower.md) - [Powerful Dual Charging Ports](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dual-usbc-charger.md)
