# Contemporary Glass Beds Tempered Translucent Furniture By Elsa Blaine | Published 2008-12-04 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/contemporary-glass-beds-furniture-by-santambrogio-milano References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2008/12/03/glass-bed-and-sofa-by-santambrogio-milano/#more-3326) & [santambrogiomilano.it](http://www.santambrogiomilano.it/) Santambrogio Milano of Italy uses [sheets of tempered glass](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/illusion-collection) to create ultra-modern [glass furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/murano-glass-stools). Shown here are a square shaped sofa, lounge space and a low-slung bed with contrasting black cushions that soften the [sleek icy stepped platform bases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zen-collection-1). The size of these pieces is massive and would need to be in a huge space, but I can imagine them in a beautiful California contemporary beach house. **Implications** - Homeowners are increasingly looking for furniture and interior design pieces that evoke a sense of calm. This translucent sofa, bed and lounge space has a transparent form factor that isn't jarring to the senses; its gentle sloping curves similarly evoke the beauty of an ice sculpture. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.4/10 - Popularity: 61% | Activity: 62% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Translucent Furniture:** Creating furniture pieces using tempered glass materials, offering a transparent and calming aesthetic. - **Contemporary Interior Design:** Designing interior spaces with sleek, modern furniture and decor for a sense of calm and serenity. - **Massive Furniture Pieces:** Designing furniture pieces in large sizes to fit spacious living areas, catering to homeowners with ample room for statement pieces. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Manufacturing companies specializing in the production of tempered glass furniture and contemporary designs. - **Interior Design:** Interior design firms focusing on creating sleek and modern spaces using translucent furniture and minimalist aesthetics. - **Luxury Real Estate:** Luxury real estate developers and agents targeting affluent buyers with spacious properties suitable for massive furniture pieces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Glass Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cassina-2.md) - [Glass Geometry Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glass-collection.md) - [Lucite Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/draga-aurel.md) - [Simplistic Glass Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/simoon-collection.md) - [Transparent Hard-Sided Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spark-sofa.md) - [Blue Floating Bed Frames](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floating-bed-frame.md) - [Chic Curved Bed Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bedroom-furniture.md) - [Crystalline Acrylic Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/draga-aurel-flare-collection.md) - [Elegant Glass Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pebbles-collection.md)
