The Convent of the Franciscan Fraternity of Bethany is a 5,300-square-meter complex, comprised of multiple buildings arranged around [open-air cloisters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cloisters-interiors). A distinguishing visual element of this project is the textured exterior of the contemporary convent. Mixtura relied on [wooden brise soleil](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plum-village-buddhist), a functional architectural feature that consists of a series of horizontal or vertical slats or louvers made of wood, to generate visual interest. Each building maintains its own architectural identity through the use of wood Mixtura's design of the Convent of the Franciscan Fraternity of Bethany reflects the cultural influences of the area and the hospitality of Franciscan and Marian practices.
