# Simplistic Whiteout Residences O/K Coral is a Chic Contemporary Apartment in Washington, DC By Rebecca Byers | Published 2015-02-20 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/contemporary-apartment References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2015/02/20/a-white-themed-apartment-in-washington-dc-by-jacobsen-architecture/) & [jacobsenarchitecture](http://www.jacobsenarchitecture.com/) O/K Coral is a stunning [white-on-white contemporary apartment](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oldnew) located in Washington, DC that was designed by Jacobsen Architecture. The luxurious space is so clean it almost feels clinical, but the space maintains its charm with the sharp lines and edges that serve to define the [monochromatic space](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grigio-verde). The whiteout space allows for any colorful detail pop, but not in a way that is obnoxious, which may be due to the space's non-harsh natural lighting. The furniture in this chic, contemporary apartment is subtle and functional, incorporating storage wherever possible and allowing for the space to remain uncluttered but organized. The O/K Coral project is a strong example of [minimalist, streamlined design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/edge-of-calm) that encourages a less cluttered and therefore less stressful lifestyle that is not driven by the pursuit of consumer ethnocentrism. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.2/10 - Popularity: 68% | Activity: 50% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Minimalist Design:** The O/K Coral project exemplifies the trend of minimalist design in residential spaces, providing opportunities for companies to create sleek and functional furniture and decor. - **Monochromatic Spaces:** The white-on-white aesthetic of O/K Coral highlights the trend of monochromatic spaces, presenting opportunities for companies to develop products and services that cater to this contemporary design style. - **Functional Storage Solutions:** The incorporation of storage in the furniture of O/K Coral reflects the trend of functional storage solutions, creating room for companies to innovate and offer space-saving storage options. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Interior Design:** The minimalist design trend in O/K Coral presents opportunities for the interior design industry to create and promote minimalist spaces for residential and commercial clients. - **Furniture Design:** The emphasis on functional, space-saving furniture in O/K Coral opens up opportunities for furniture designers to create innovative storage solutions for small and minimalist living spaces. - **Home Organization:** The need for efficient storage in minimalist spaces, as showcased in O/K Coral, creates opportunities for companies in the home organization industry to provide innovative and practical storage solutions for consumers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Minimal Material Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/marcela-cure.md) - [Ultra-Slick Modern Apartment Interiors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-apartment-interior.md) - [Lofty Minimalist Living Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-living-space1.md) - [Compact White-Painted Modern Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/whitepainted-modern-home.md) - [Playful Apartment Makeovers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/onda-apartment.md) - [Bathroom-Centric Dubai Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bone-studio.md) - [Updated Portland Modern Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casework.md) - [Monochrome Living Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grigio-verde.md) - [All-White Contemporary Retail Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/white-is-good-shop.md)
