# Playful Residential Homes Container Design's Home Features a Hammock of Netting and Chalkboards By Joey Haar | Published 2017-06-29 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/container-design References: [archdaily](http://www.archdaily.com/874595/house-in-sukumo-container-design) Container Design built a [residential home in Sukomo, Japan](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kumagaya-house), with the intent of having it stand out from the more traditional homes that surround it. The family abode is as [playful as possible](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/onda-apartment), with features like a floor-to-ceiling chalkboard covering two portions of wall near the kitchen and a hammock-like section of netting that forms a loft over one of the home's hallways. The netting is the most striking aspect of the home, showing that the family who lives there isn't afraid of a little fun, even inside. That netting can be accessed from the top floor of the home, through a glass door that separates it from the [children's playroom](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cat-tree-house-2). That playroom itself has built in brackets for another hammock, too. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.9/10 - Popularity: 52% | Activity: 56% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Playful Residential Homes:** Incorporating playful elements and interactive features into residential homes to create a unique and engaging living experience. - **Floor-to-ceiling Chalkboards:** Using floor-to-ceiling chalkboards as a creative and customizable design element in residential homes to encourage creativity and personal expression. - **Hammock-like Netting:** Integrating hammock-like netting structures into the architecture of residential homes to provide unique and cozy spaces for relaxation and play. ### Who This Affects Most - **Residential Construction:** Opportunity for builders and architects to incorporate playful elements and interactive features into residential home designs. - **Interior Design:** Potential for interior designers to utilize floor-to-ceiling chalkboards as a creative and customizable design element in residential spaces. - **Furniture and Home Decor:** Market for innovative hammock-like netting structures that can be integrated into residential homes for unique and cozy seating and relaxation areas. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Playful-Focused Polish Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/znamy-si.md) - [Tent‑Filled Daycare Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/deya-day-care.md) - [Pink-Hued Shipping Container Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pink-shipping-container-homes.md) - [Whimsical Futuristic Home Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yoohome.md) - [Charming Traditional Tiny Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/la-maison-du-bonheur.md) - [Triple Shipping Container Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modhouse-tiny-home.md) - [Circus Tent-Inspired Holiday Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-circus.md) - [Elevated Leisure Habitats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elevated-leisure-habitat.md) - [Inversion Living Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tiny-getaway.md)
