# Twisting Wooden Furniture The Console Mobius by Pierre Renart is Sinuously Sculptural By Meghan Young | Published 2014-05-06 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/console-mobius References: [fubiz.net](http://www.fubiz.net/en/2014/05/05/design-by-pierre-renart/) & [pierre-renart](http://www.pierre-renart.com/portfolio/console-mobius/) The Console Mobius is a stunning piece of furniture that has a [sinuously sculptural form](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-coffee-tables). As its name gives away, this twisting form is inspired by the Mobius strip, which is a surface with only one side and only one boundary component. What makes the Console Mobius particularly impressive is the fact that it is made out of wood. Designed by [Pierre Renard](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pierre-renart), an [Ecole Boulle](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pavillon-de-design) graduate based in Montreuil, France, the Console Mobius may look flexible, but since it is made out of a relatively rigid material, it is more static than one would at first think. Interestingly, the rosewood veneer covers a carbon fiber core. More of a work of art than a piece of furniture, the Console Mobius could be displayed in galleries. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.8/10 - Popularity: 73% | Activity: 63% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Twisting Furniture Designs:** Incorporate dynamically twisting furniture designs into modern and contemporary interior spaces. - **Eco-friendly Sculptural Furniture:** Utilize sustainable materials to craft stunning sinuously sculptural furniture designs. - **Wood and Carbon Fiber Fusion:** Combine the beauty and natural warmth of wood with the lightweight, durable benefits of carbon fiber in furniture design. ### Who This Affects Most - **Interior Design:** Incorporating the Console Mobius into contemporary interior designs could provide a bold artistic statement. - **Furniture Design:** Innovative combinations of wood and carbon fiber present an opportunity for disrupting the luxury furniture design industry. - **Sustainable Materials:** Building on the beauty of sustainable furniture design, furniture and interior design industries can utilize new materials to create environmentally conscious products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Twisting CGI-Designed Sideboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookscrew-sideboard.md) - [Fluid Wooden Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loop-furnitures.md) - [Twisted Wooden Boxed Sideboard](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/deniz-aktay.md) - [Puzzling Geometric Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linked-side-table.md) - [Harmonious Helical Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vortex-coffee-table.md) - [Offset Shelf Sideboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crazy-slice-sideboard-concept.md) - [Nature-Inspired Mesmerizing Sideboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/genipadu-sideboard.md) - [General Store-Inspired Consoles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/haptic.md) - [Dual-Position Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/furniture-design-concept.md)
