# Connection-Blocking Phone Cases 'Block' is a Stylish Accessory That Stops Messages, Calls and More By Riley von Niessen | Published 2016-11-16 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/connectionblocking References: [meetblock](http://meetblock.com/) In a time when many smartphone users have found themselves constantly staring at their screens, real interaction seems to have taken a backseat -- which is why this connection-blocking case was devised. With a sleek appearance, 'Block' makes for a welcome addition in just about any space. To use it, those wishing to prevent messages, calls and notifications from taking over their attention simply place their mobile device into the connection-blocking case. Once doing so, they're able to give their full attention to those around them, helping to facilitate stronger bonds between friends and family. Although it's true that one could simply turn off their phone instead, the use of Block makes one's willingness to engage with others especially clear and encourages others to put their devices away as well. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.0/10 - Popularity: 78% | Activity: 94% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Mobile](https://www.trendhunter.com/mobile) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Connection-blocking Cases:** The rising demand for connection-blocking cases presents an opportunity for tech companies to design stylish and innovative phone cases that promote real-life social interaction and disconnecting from the digital world. - **Digital Detox Accessories:** The popularity of Block phone cases indicates a growing trend towards digital detox products and accessories that help users disconnect from technology and prioritize real-life interactions. - **Mindful Phone Usage:** The development of connection-blocking cases shows a trend towards mindful phone usage, an opportunity for companies to create products that encourage users to be more present and aware of their digital habits. ### Where This Applies - **Phone Accessories:** The rise of connection-blocking cases presents a market opportunity for phone accessory manufacturers to design and produce stylish cases that block phone signals and promote digital wellness. - **Digital Wellness:** The development of Block phone cases highlights a growing market for digital wellness products and services that promote healthy relationships with technology and encourage users to disconnect from their digital devices. - **Personal Development:** Connection-blocking phone cases are part of a larger trend towards personal development and self-improvement, creating an opportunity for companies to create innovative products that help users improve their mental and social well-being. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Smartphone Detox Lockboxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smartphone-lock-box.md) - [Smartphone-Silencing Pouches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/california-cowboy-out-of-pocket-pouch.md) - [Anti-Connectivity Smartphone Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/slnt-faraday-phone-sleeve.md) - [NFC-Enabled Anti-Distraction Keychains](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unpluq-tag.md) - [Smartphone Use Reduction Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/burnner.md) - [Acrylic Smartphone Addiction Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/methaphone.md) - [Usage-Curbing Smartphone Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smartphone-lock.md) - [Conscious Smartphone Detox Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/muto.md) - [AI-Enhanced Phone Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-flipper-by-heineken.md)
