Capable of being [installed in a wall](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dreo-wh517s) in order to save as much space as possible, the Artistic Air Conditioner fits into a hollow space and slides forward when in use. This allows the cool air to escape through the created crevice between the wall and the unit to save space and eliminate the need for a large section to be dedicated to the appliance. The Artistic Air Conditioner unit is the design work of Zheng Dongping, Jia Siyuan, Liu Binwen, Xu Tengfei and Lin Leye. It's the winner of the Red Dot Design Award for 2016. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.0/10 - Popularity: 67% | Activity: 76% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Slim Wall-mounted Air Conditioners:** The development of slim wall-mounted air conditioners offers potential for disruptive innovation in the home appliance and construction industries by saving space and improving aesthetics. - **Space-saving Appliances:** The trend toward space-saving appliances, such as the Artistic Air Conditioner, presents opportunities for disruptive innovation in various industries including home appliances, furniture design, and interior design. - **Hidden Technology:** The Artistic Air Conditioner's hidden design represents a trend toward integrating technological innovation into everyday objects, providing opportunities for disruptive innovation in various industries including home appliances, electronics, and automotive design. ### Where This Applies - **Home Appliances:** Innovation in home appliance design, with a focus on space-saving and hidden technology, could provide significant market opportunities. - **Construction:** The development of slim wall-mounted air conditioners offers potential for disruptive innovation in construction and architecture by providing more options for space-saving solutions. - **Furniture Design:** Incorporating space-saving appliances into furniture design could provide an opportunity for disruptive innovation in furniture design. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Accordion-Style Air Conditioners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foldable-ac.md) - [Sleek Aesthetic Air Conditioners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mijia-air-conditioner.md) - [Artful Air Conditioners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lg-artcool-gallery.md) - [Artful Multifunctional AC Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artcool.md) - [Space-Conscious Air Conditioners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/comfyair.md) - [Targeted Cooling AC Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lg-artcool-ai-air.md) - [Sleek Air Conditioning Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emura.md) - [Consummately Compact Air Conditioners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/compact-air-conditioner.md) - [Artistic Minimalism Air Purifiers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aeroview-air-purifier.md)
