# Concrete Cushion Sofas The Concrete Soft Chair Will Be Hard to Your Kaboose's Touch By Jason Soy | Published 2011-05-26 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/concrete-soft-chair References: [chairblog.eu](http://www.chairblog.eu/2011/05/24/concrete-soft-chair-by-anne-mette-manelius/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:) & [concretely.blogspot](http://concretely.blogspot.com/2010/03/ambiguous-chairs.html) I've encountered some deceptively uncomfortable furniture before, but I think if I ever sat on this Concrete Soft chair, it would take the prize for being the least ergonomic seating choice ever. This [soft cushion-masquerading chair](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/atypical-chair) is the work of Anne-Mette Manelius, who has a strong obsession with concrete. This [cement chair](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ancora) is riveting it its seat patterns, which look like something you'd normally find at any regular sofa store. The cushions even come with floral prints, but alas, the illusion is somewhat betrayed by Manelius' inclusion of bolts onto the seating. Still, the Concrete Soft chair is as [unique as seating gets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yay-chair). And who doesn't want the honor of saying they sat in a chair made entirely out of concrete? ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.1/10 - Popularity: 44% | Activity: 72% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Ergonomic Furniture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create a more comfortable and ergonomic alternative to the Concrete Soft chair. - **Creative Material Use:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore unconventional materials to create unique and visually appealing furniture designs. - **Functional Illusion:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop furniture that gives the illusion of being one thing but offers a different functionality. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporate innovative materials and designs into furniture manufacturing processes. - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Collaborate with furniture manufacturers to create visually striking and functional pieces. - **Architectural Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Integrate unconventional materials and seating designs into architectural projects. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Ultra-Comfy Seating Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cushy-lounge-chair.md) - [Brutalist Concrete Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brute-furniture-concept.md) - [Visibly Undulating Stool Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/concave-stool.md) - [Plush Sculptural Lounge Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rokko.md) - [Foam-Made Angular Armchairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mass-pressure.md) - [Sleek Steel Structural Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/combchair.md) - [Rope-Like Dynamic Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caterpillar-lounge.md) - [Contrasting Element Concrete Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/conecto-modular-stool.md) - [SIngle Cushion-Explored Seating Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/slim-collection.md)
