# Hung Concrete Lighting The Portland Fitting Adds an Industrial Look to Your Home By Linix | Published 2012-03-02 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/concrete-pendants-lighting References: [innermost.net](http://www.innermost.net/wp/portland) The Portland fitting was developed by James Bartlett, who had a desire to change the perception about concrete. Bartlett studied 3D design in his hometown of Manchester at [Metropolitan University](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/metropolitan-naples) before moving to London, where he's been part of Innermost studios since 2008. This design combines the matt tones of the [cast gray concrete exterior](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ancora) with the bright spring colors of its interior. Its pentagonal jewel-like shape works well in groups, clusters, lines or even patterns. The five-sided faceted shape is a two-part concrete casting and is powered by a three-watt LED GU10 spot bulb. The result is a fitting suitable for any [minimally designed interior](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/takeout-lamp), as it also brings character and warmth. The Portland fitting is available in white, aqua and red colors. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.3/10 - Popularity: 16% | Activity: 76% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Concrete Lighting:** Concrete lighting fixtures are disrupting the lighting industry with their unique design and minimalist appeal. - **Industrial Home Decor:** The trend of incorporating industrial elements in home decor is creating opportunities for designers and manufacturers to offer innovative and stylish products. - **Colorful Interior Lighting:** The demand for bright and colorful interior lighting options is driving the development of innovative lighting fixtures like the Portland fitting. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Lighting Design:** The lighting design industry can capitalize on the trend of concrete lighting by creating more visually appealing and functional fixtures. - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry can embrace the industrial trend and offer a wide range of products that combine aesthetics and functionality. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate colorful lighting fixtures like the Portland fitting to add character and warmth to their designs. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Material-Exploring Industrial-Style Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/industrialstyle-lighting.md) - [Whimsical Joint Lighting Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/port-collection.md) - [Industrial Contemporary Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shop-light.md) - [Functional Illuminated Bricks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/og-brick-light.md) - [Urban-Themed Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zenc-lighting.md) - [Brutalist Bedside Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vestige-lamp.md) - [American Oak Pendant Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-bean.md) - [Enchanting Hanging Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hf-series.md) - [Statement Contemporary Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/filigrana-6.md)
