# DIY Egg Magnets These Concrete Egg Magnets Will Nest Every Paper Clip in Sight By Jen Chae | Published 2013-06-08 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/concrete-egg-magnets References: [blog.naver](http://blog.naver.com/hankukilbo/70168853072) These concrete egg magnets prove that [functional stationery organizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/korka) can be made of the most simple of materials; in this case, empty egg shells, magnets and concrete. A DIY pictorial by South Korean blogger Design Hobby walks you through how to make these modern-looking gray eggs that serve as cute desk toppers. The creator cuts a hole at the top of the egg, big enough to empty the content inside and re-fill the shell with concrete, but small enough so that the concrete will harden in a full egg shape. The trick is to drop a few [magnet pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/speks-magnet-balls) into the egg shell along with the liquid cement. When the concrete hardens, the egg shell is peeled off and the paperclip holders are complete. The design is especially neat because the paperclips that stick to the [concrete eggs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/humansized-egg-installation) resemble a birds nest. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.3/10 - Popularity: 83% | Activity: 67% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **DIY Desk Organizers:** There is an opportunity for disruptive innovation in the creation of unique DIY desk organizers using simple and unexpected materials. - **Eco-friendly Desk Accessories:** The trend towards using recycled and repurposed materials in the creation of functional and stylish desk accessories is on the rise. - **Concrete Crafts:** There is a growing demand for creating unique and modern-looking items using concrete as a versatile material. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Craft and DIY:** The craft and DIY industry can capitalize on the trend of using simple and recycled materials to create functional and unique items. - **Office Supplies:** The market for eco-friendly and innovative office supplies can be met by companies willing to experiment with new and unconventional materials. - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry can develop new and stylish ways to incorporate concrete into functional and decorative items for the home and office. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Magnetic Desk Trays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hexagon-board-game-trays.md) - [Artful Seaweed-Inspired Bin Magnets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/magnetic-edition.md) - [Note Clip Organizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/note-clip.md) - [Welcome Gift Design Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/earths-hatch-kit.md) - [Minimalist Experimental Egg Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/experimental-egg-racks.md) - [Magnetic Building Blocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/magnecraft.md) - [Wooden Magnetic Desktop Organizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oakywood-oakyblocks-magnetic-modules.md) - [Magnetic Wooden Sculpture Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/magnetic-sculpture.md) - [Metallic Super-Ellitpical Desk Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/altdynamic-superegg.md)
