The chair features a molded plywood body and has been paired with a dual-density foam on the outer section that provides an enhanced level of suppleness for sitters to appreciate. The form of the chair will suit the body of the sitter seamlessly, while the lower section offers a sizable amount of space for storing books, decor items or even as a space for pets to call their own. This makes the high-end furniture piece ideal for homes where each item needs to serve a dual-purpose functionality. The conceptual 'Conch' chair is the winner of the 2019 Red Dot Design Concept Award. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 7.0/10 - Popularity: 100% | Activity: 100% | Freshness: 9% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Small Space Solutions:** The 'Conch' chair addresses the limited storage space in urban homes and offers a dual-purpose functionality. - **Integrated Storage Furniture:** The 'Conch' chair integrates storage space for books, decor items, or even as a space for pets, providing a convenient and stylish solution. - **Sustainable Design:** The 'Conch' chair features a molded plywood body and dual-density foam, showcasing a focus on sustainable materials and eco-friendly design. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Furniture manufacturers can explore opportunities to create innovative storage-integrated seating solutions like the 'Conch' chair to cater to small space living. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can utilize storage-integrated seating options like the 'Conch' chair to optimize space and create stylish yet functional living environments. - **Home Decor Retail:** Home decor retailers can leverage the popularity of space-saving furniture by offering storage-integrated seating options like the 'Conch' chair to meet the needs of urban dwellers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Storage-Attached Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grid-chair.md) - [Antitheft Storage Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/afford-chair.md) - [Chic Single-Piece Plywood Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/void-lounge-chair.md) - [Cozy Storage-Focused Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-pocket-chair.md) - [Striking Storage-Friendly Poufs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/berliner-pouf.md) - [Posh Pet-Friendly Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/quella-chair.md) - [Pet Bed-Equipped Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sharing-joy-armchair.md) - [Relaxed Anti-Distraction Seats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fortune-chair.md) - [Built-In Storage Cozy Couches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cask-sofa.md)
