# Flower-Shaped Furniture The Concertina Chair Has Petals Resembling a Blooming Flower By Ell Smith | Published 2017-06-02 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/concertina-chair References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2017/06/01/flowery-furniture/) & [raw-edges](http://www.raw-edges.com/) The Concertina Chair by London-based design studio Raw-Edges is designed to be the newest addition to Louis Vuitton's 'Objets Nomades' collection. The back of this unique sculptural chair is shaped to resemble the petals of a flower, and comes in colors ranging from bold and vibrant to muted and subtle. The chair is equipped with a zipper hidden in the back, which allows for the chair's blades to be folded in on itself, making for a compact and mobile addition to a home's decor. The chair challenges tradition conventions of form following function by being driven by "form following movement." The chair is said to elegantly open up "like a Japanese fan." Design and aesthetic were the driving forces behind the chair's conception, creating the perfect addition to a modern home. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.6/10 - Popularity: 90% | Activity: 70% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Sculptural Furniture:** Designing furniture that incorporates unique sculptural elements can offer innovative and visually striking options for modern homes. - **Compact and Mobile Furniture:** Creating furniture that can be easily folded and transported provides functional and versatile solutions for modern living spaces. - **Form Following Movement:** Challenging traditional design conventions by creating furniture that is driven by movement opens up opportunities for innovative and dynamic pieces. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Design:** The furniture design industry can explore new ways of incorporating sculptural elements into their creations. - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry can offer compact and mobile furniture options that cater to the needs of contemporary living spaces. - **Fashion and Luxury:** By exploring the concept of form following movement, the fashion and luxury industry can create innovative and visually striking designs. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Flower-Inspired Dynamic Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hana-chair.md) - [Naturalistic Grass-Inspired Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-flip-chair.md) - [Chaotically Natural Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kkochgalam-chair.md) - [Practical Folding Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/patan-chair.md) - [Rope-Like Dynamic Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caterpillar-lounge.md) - [Sliding Flatpack Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folio-chair.md) - [Flatpack Ultra-Modular Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nebula-chair.md) - [Music-Inspired Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-chair1.md) - [Dynamic Structural Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foldont-chair.md)
