# Illusory Cracked Base Tables The 'Excalibur' Conceptual Side Table by Deniz Aktay is Sleek By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2022-04-28 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/conceptual-side-table References: [homecrux](https://www.homecrux.com/excalibur-side-table-by-denis-aktay/170418/) & [behance.net](https://www.behance.net/gallery/142348509/Excalibur-side-table) The '[Excalibur](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-kabuto-legacy)' conceptual side table has been designed by Deniz Aktay as a sleek furniture solution for the home or office that maintains a somewhat cheeky aesthetic. The ultra-minimalist table features a somewhat simple tabletop and support, but is paired with a crack-shaped metal base that creates an optical illusion for the beholder. The table thus appears as though it is sitting in a crack in the floor to give it a somewhat illusory construction that's perfect for placement on [bare concrete flooring](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ancora) for maximum effect. The 'Excalibur' conceptual side table takes a humorous approach to modern furniture design that, while indeed quite sleek, makes light of interior aesthetics and encourages conversation. The whimsical table is suitable named with the legendary sword in mind.
