# Contemporary Conceptual Illustrations Conceptual Artwork by Magoz is Colorful with a Tint of Humor By Simal Yilmaz | Published 2013-01-22 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/conceptual-illustrations References: [visualnews](http://www.visualnews.com/2013/01/18/illustration-by-spanish-artist-magoz/) & [magoz.info](http://magoz.info/works/portfolio/) [Barcelona](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colombo-and-serboli-architecture-1)-based visual artist Mágoz's conceptual illustrations put a heavier weight on their theoretical messages than aesthetic detailing. Mágoz uses Photoshop like his canvas and creates all of his illustrations out of scratch using a [Wacom](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/art-pen-2) tablet and scanned sketches. His work is [colorful and caricaturesque](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soccerthemed-illustrations). Using wonderfully vibrant colors and contrasts, the artist depicts his subjects in bold and symbolic lines. The interesting part of his technique is that as much as the colors stand out of from his work, the color element isn't used in a redundant manner but rather, just enough with the right selection. Much of his work is clever and sometimes humorous depictions of today's peoples' everyday habits reflected in a minimal and symbolic manner, often in the form of visual analogies. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.3/10 - Popularity: 89% | Activity: 92% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Conceptual Illustrations:** Opportunity for artists to create thought-provoking and symbolic visuals that capture the essence of contemporary issues. - **Colorful Artwork:** Opportunity for artists to use vibrant colors and contrasts to create visually striking and attention-grabbing illustrations. - **Minimal Symbolism:** Opportunity for artists to communicate complex ideas and habits through simple and symbolic visual analogies. ### Where This Applies - **Visual Arts:** Opportunity for artists and illustrators to explore new techniques and styles in creating conceptual artwork. - **Graphic Design:** Opportunity to incorporate bold and vibrant visuals into marketing and advertising materials for maximum impact. - **Publishing:** Opportunity to commission conceptual illustrations for book covers and editorial illustrations that captivate and engage readers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Vibrantly Colorful Dynamic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kayla-rumpp.md) - [Food-Inspired Brand Imagery](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cooking-clases-barcelona-venue.md) - [Illustrated To-Do Lists](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colortodo.md) - [AI-Generated Kitchen Appliances](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gaudiinspired.md) - [Branded Illustration Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/illustrations-ai.md) - [Dynamic Structural Mirror Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zigzag-collection.md) - [AI-Generated Poetic Photo Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emilio-alarcn.md) - [AI-Generated Real-World Transformations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-generated-world.md) - [AI-Generated Retrofuturistic Objects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/retrofuturistic-objects.md)
