# Fluid Futuristic Family Homes This Conceptual House Design is Adaptive and Has Gill-Like Blinds By Allen Taylor | Published 2014-03-24 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/conceptual-house-design References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2014/03/24/futuristic-family-home-skeletal-staircase-gonzalo-vaillo-martinez/) & [gonzalovaillo.blogspot](http://gonzalovaillo.blogspot.ca/) Architecture student Gonzalo Vaíllo Martínez designed a conceptual [futuristic family home](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/no-ordinary-house). The design features a fluid structure, a skeletal staircase and blinds that open and close like gills. The concept is designed as a [modular system](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-offgrid-house) that can be put on any site. Martínez adds, "It can be placed anywhere and the specific conditions of each location will modify the house in one way or another." Depending on the location, the house can evolve and mutate to better suit the surroundings. The organic, [louvred blinds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fractal-facade-house) in the buildings skin open, and close like gills on a fish; other openings stretch, and widen to allow more or less light to fill the interior. Martínez also said that the building may appear unrealistic, but that it could be constructed today using technologies, and materials that already exist. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.3/10 - Popularity: 8% | Activity: 23% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Fluid Modular Homes:** The trend towards fluid structures that can be adapted to changing conditions to suit the site and location. - **Organic Adaptive Design:** The trend towards organic design that is sensitive to the environment and that can change in response to specific conditions or characteristics of its location. - **Smart Louvred Blinds:** The trend towards smart blinds that can open and close automatically in response to changes in weather, temperature and lighting conditions. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architecture:** The architecture industry can benefit from a focus on fluid, modular and adaptive design that can be adapted to changing environmental conditions and site specific location characteristics. - **Smart Home Technology:** The smart home technology industry can benefit from incorporating smart louvred blinds that can open and close automatically to suit changing lighting, temperature and weather conditions. - **Modular Construction:** The modular construction industry can benefit from innovative design solutions that can be used to create fluid and adaptive housing structures. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Transparent Shell-Covered Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-brisa.md) - [Whimsical Futuristic Home Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yoohome.md) - [Flax Fiber Floating Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blue-nomad.md) - [Futuristic Capsule House Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/capsule-house.md) - [Climate-Responsive Prefab Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drop-pod.md) - [Climate-Adaptive Tropical Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ocean-eye.md) - [Fish Tank-Inspired Japanese Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nao-iwanari.md) - [Sculptural Inverted Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-house-with-an-inverted-roof.md) - [Anticipatory Architectural Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vulcan-house.md)
