Starting from a photograph, Plunkett is able to build on landscapes and create fictional structures that seem like they could happily live there. Some of the most impressive pieces include amazing, [unusual skyscrapers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/asympta) that look far different from the ones we're used to seeing in the sky, as well as churches with more [pointed geometric shapes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragmenti) in place of iconography. Instead of being pristine and polished as many architectural renderings are designed to be, many of these imaginative landscapes and towering buildings are rather run-down, weathered and extremely lived-in. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.7/10 - Popularity: 29% | Activity: 13% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Digitally Constructed Fictional Architecture:** The convergence of art, design, and photography tools to craft imaginative structures over real-life photographs and building prototypes. - **Modularized Multi-use Landscapes:** Designing architectural pieces that flexibly suit different functions and fit into different landscapes, reducing carbon footprint and supporting sustainability goals. - **Redefining Skyline Real Estate:** Designing skyscrapers with novel shapes, unconventional building materials, and environmental considerations to expand the limits and functionality of urban architecture. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architecture and Engineering:** Adopting the use of art, design, and photography software to create innovative and imaginative patterns that can be deployed in real-life construction projects. - **Urban Planning and Real Estate Development:** Exploring modularized and multi-use concepts that can be deployed in different urban landscapes while promoting environmental responsibility. - **Commercial Photography and Advertising:** Adopting the use of digitally created structures to replace physical prototypes and provide cost-effectiveness for advertising campaigns and films. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Abstract Fantasy Home Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/abstract-fantasy-home.md) - [AI-Generated Retrofuturistic Objects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/retrofuturistic-objects.md) - [Social Experiment Virtual Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/uncanny-spaces.md) - [AI-Generated Real-World Transformations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-generated-world.md) - [Optical Illusion Replica Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liberty-science-center.md) - [Interactive Architectural Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folding-landscape.md) - [Statement Street Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surreal-street-art-1.md) - [Paper-Made Mosaic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/real-life-architecture-exhibition.md) - [Colorful Metaverse Cities](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/metaverse-cities.md)
